Strange how there are 2 separate and different memory controllers.

Question is how good will be the drivers.. given the bad name AMD has for its drivers, where Raja is from .. I don't have high expectations. The other day I compared that using Optix, Nvidia cards are 2x faster when rendering in Blender3D compared to their equivalent cards in AMD lineup. Also, having used a Vega64 card for around 3 years, I personally have seen multiple issues caused by AMD driver updates that don't go away easily sometimes even after clean install.

6Gb or RAM in 2021... but seriously, the "gods" have conspired events to make an unassuming gpu a runaway hit only because it will be widely available. normally we'd be talking about "weak sauce"

On Windows, I expect great functionality and poor performance, since not only that is where their current Xe drivers stand, but Intel also just has a long way to go to optimize drivers. In Linux, performance will be great but some features might be missing (again, that's how things currently are).

Technically just two PHY's (abbreviation for physical layer, ie. the actual connection), with one memory controller behind them. In GDDR, the memory bus to each chip is 32-bit (or technically 2x16 in GDDR6 for improved performance), so this setup could be used for 3 memory elements - one or more chips per element, so 6GB is likely with 2GB chips. 96-bit memory bus is pretty low though, but if this is a truely entry-level card on the level of say a 1030 was.. Assuming this is repeatable block, and this is the 128EU version (it has 8x16 vector units), then the 384 version might also come with 3x the memory bus, 288-bit, which would be much better for a mid-range card.

What I was thinking. Would make for better flexibility on various memory sizing's as well.

For an entry level card that comes to replace with cards such as 1050 and 1030 6gb is fine hell even 4 will be fine on this category 😛

i know, right? oh well. my hype receptors are just worn thin and i'm happy (in gen'l) about intel doing it, so you know the hype is thicker than good stew.
