Those things get more and more optical sensors with every generation.

hmm.. Those bezels look a bit strange, too much like A8 2018 and yet a bit different.

Absolute diminishing returns. Until I break my note 3, i'm good, then i'm onto a note 4 since it still has an SD and removable battery.

I still have a note 2, a souped up s3, and I updated apps and what not about 6 months ago and found it painfully slow. A couple friends had the s3 and the 1gb ram was a major pain in the arse Custom roms will help no doubt with old phones, the amount of garbage on my note 3 i've uninstalled by root or disabled is ridiculous

Yep... it's hit a point that most people can have what they want from previous generations. I've had a Snapdragon 820 phone since 2016 and I could easily use it to 2020 at this rate if the battery doesn't horribly degrade. And in my case there's very few avenues for actual upgrades since mine has a good DAC/amp, and the only thing I can really switch to which includes such things these days is the LG V series. I guess I'll be waiting for the LG V50-60 in 2-3 generations from now. Maybe I'd upgrade more often if flagships from big names weren't over $1K a piece before taxes. Those prices are ludicrous.

You'll get very obvious benefits upgrading that to a last generation or newer phone. Screens are much larger, higher resolution, higher quality in general. The storage is significantly faster, and the phones themselves are fast enough to feel instant in comparison to the S3's generation. That's why I'm content with the SD 820 phone I have. It does things pretty much instantly and has the brute force for anything so I don't feel like I'll really feel much difference upgrading. But compared to the S3's generation extremely obvious how much faster it is.

S8/S8+ was the last real jump in design and specs.I'm enjoying it. It doesn't seem a big jump from it, i will wait for S10+.

$1k flagship phones are fekin ridiculous. I've not had a contract phone since galaxy s2, and even that was behind the times, got my note 3 from someone on this forum for about £300 (can't remember who, thanks bud) Curved screen? Why? More difficult to replace. I actually don't use my stylus really, very rare I write on it, few times a year. But the actual app supports finger input and I bet it can't install unless you have a Note phone. I'm a bit pissed that note 4 ditches usb 3, but then I realised it's been a long time since I used usb 3 on my note 3. A recentish update disabled it unless you manually select it every time you want to use it up til 10 minutes. At least with my phone, and actually, all others according to the press releases they made. You don't get reduced performance over time, just less battery as you would expect, but then I can just replace the battery.

So now, its dropped from 1080p at 480fps to 720p at 480fps? We did read it was 1080p at 480fps on earlier news, right?

Was gonna go with something like the Pixel 2 after my S7, but with the endless number of problems with it, the S9 might become my next phone Camera sounds appealing

I am happy with my xiaomi note 4x, 3gb ram snapdraggon 625 4000 mah battery lasts me 2 days with heavy use up to 5 with minimal, more than fast enough for me 1080 p 5,5 inch screen and all that for 150 euros sure the flagships are better phones but not 850 euros better imo

With S6e, I miss one important thing. Ability to remove all trash Samsung pushes. At time they make it artificially obsolete, I'll root it (good bye payments). I kind of miss time with rooted phone. But either way one can't get most out of the phone.

Hey, download and install Package Disabler Pro for Samsung from google store and you'll be able to disable all bloatware from your phone 🙂

Previously reported at FullHD @ 480fps
Could be that they are again limiting the capabilities of the Exynos model because they want parity between the models.

I can disable it, but not remove. Same goes for Package Disabler. It can't do that without root.

This man knows how it goes. I got a Redmi Note 4X for my mother, saw it was really impressive, not just specs but build quality as well. Right after that I ordered a Mi Note 3 for 250 euro. Big battery, really fast CPU, 6gb ram, perfect camera. Can't ask for more.

wife note 3 is at my father in law. My note 3 at my nephew. I have in house Huawei P9, P10 plus( wife, 6gb, 128 internal) and 6s.Huawei is blazing fast, fingerprint is perfect. P9 has low gpu in it, P10 as well compared to Samsuck S8. Note 3 emmc 100mb compared to 800mb in P10 Plus.....here is an major difference. Note 3 60k antutu, p9 100k, p10 plus 150k, iphone 6s 125k.

Ditto in regards to root and custom ROMs. I miss the fact that I could install any custom ROM I desired on my old S5. While I can still do that on my S8, there are simply way too many features of the phone tied to Touchwiz. I lost a lot of features even on my old S5, but obviously gained others (like not having a slow fucking phone). Alas, at least they've implemented themes (!!), minimized the bloat and made the whole OS work better.

design wise, i bet most phone maker not only samsung will using this similar design for quite some time ... for next 2-3years maybe? cant saying its really big changes for removing physical/home button on S8/8+/note8, but i think most people agree its looks refreshed and feels more elegance without home button so i dont think we going to see any design change soon ... i think it will be minor but enough to differentiate from a model to previous one if S9 is camera improvement... note9 rumor saying on-screen-fingerprint-scanner? next design changes, probably if that flexible display getting big hit on market, i personally doubt it will be next phone things... because i curious about its durability in next 5~10 years... when AI - voice command much more improved than now and much more smarter that we feel organically talking to a person instead a robot probably we will using a headset or watch device, but again we need visual for many things so, display will stay ... until we seeing holographic display like on sci-fi movies
