I guess that this was always NVIDIA's strategy: release a set of cards that makes sense as a launch product, wait for AMD to shoot their shot and then one-up them with a set of more powerful products. We've seen them do it with the 20x0 series, so that they would do this for the 30x0 series is no big surprise. And seeing that the 3080 isn't coming off too bad against the 6800XT, this seems to have been a viable strategy for NVIDIA to follow. This might also explain the relatively low supplies of these initial cards, because the outrage from the community for them dropping these improved versions would be seriously high if the 3070, 3080 and 3090 would have been widely available.

Well... it appears to be a fake, as the cooler with display looks like the Colorful iGame Vulcan cards ( Link) they`ve unveiled a while ago. Lets see what turns out to be the truth in the end! 😉 Cheers!

I find it comical that new products are being showcased (or outed/unleased...lol) that cannot even be purchased....although I reaslize that's Hilbert's bread and butter, it's still sadly comical...

Internet Trolling is a way of life for some... 20 GB 3080 cards are possible, but I don't see them happening anytime soon, maybe during "Super" refresh in mid 2021... Until then, good luck all, may F5 bring you joy !

Well like most things posted here, its a rumor 🙂. And if Astyanax is correct that "ASIC manufacturers received a selection of chips deemed too low in asic quality to be implemented on cards and sold to gaming consumers" then it shouldnt affect the gaming segment.

The more I think about it, the more I realise how strange it would be for Nvidia to release such a card. A 3080Ti with slightly lower specs than a 3090 but for a substantially cheaper price would make the 3090 completely absolete. It would also do the same thing to the 3080 because it'd be double the VRAM for just a few hundred bucks more. Would Nvidia really want to destroy two of their SKU's in one fell swoop?

Most of the earlier rumors had the 3080Ti pegged at only 12GB of VRAM. Which I think could slot in between the 3080/3090. I still think it would be a weird card though, that not many would purchase. If such a card was $900 (similar to the 6900XT) it would be far enough away from the 3080 to keep the 3080 viable but users who want the 24GB of VRAM for workstation type applications would probably have no issue shelling out the extra $$ for the 3090.

Any new cards or refreshes with more than 12gb gddr6x will have to wait for the 2gb modules. Otherwise it will be too expensive to manufacture.

As there is still a gap in pricing which could be filled by some 3080ti I think the release itself is possible (to fill this gap). Still availability of RTX3xxx cards in Germany is not worth mentioning, prices yank up and down like crazy because (if at all) there is only one dealer for most models. And I thought the bitcoin race was insane. But then this here is complete madness. 5 years from now on and we pay 2000€ and more for a xx60 card.
