Yeah, faking specs like this is starting to REALLY annoy me. 😡 I used to go full nerd reading reviews as I was loving finding the best tech, no matter the type, now I feel I have to get into most serious items nitty gritty I buy so I dn't get limbered with crippled tech. ...makes me start to enjoy reading about such things much less and even feels like a chore at times. Projectors shocked me more than most with so many even from recognised brands claiming 4k resolution natively on their own specs pages AND charging 4k prices when they are just using 1080p pixel shifted to simulate 4k or FauxK as some as calling it. I would have thought regulatory bodies like UK's FTC would have stomped on companies using such flagrant lies to sell products by now !?!

HDR has long way to go. And I do not think I'll jump on that wagon any time soon. 400cd/m^2 is quite a lot already in case you play darker game and then there is bright lightning flash in storm. I know that HDR is good addition. I remember FarCry HDR patch. Was good even while being basic. And I would still prefer nice visual effect on normal screen, than being blinded for real by 1000cd/m^2. But use of HDR screen to enhance contrast, that's different story. probably one which people behind HDR TV/monitor technology do not follow.

There are different HDR specs under different tiers. Many displays claim HDR capability but are not 'true HDR'. Vesa have established their own specs which I believe tries to ensure adequate enough standards for displays that claim HDR capability. Not all display buyers have same priorities. I'd go for this over a smaller, lower res higher hz display. Fast paced competitive gaming not everyones top prerogative.

You are doing the monitor a disservice here guys. 720nit for the entire screen lit in white - 100% coverage!?!?! That is retina searing star collapsing brightness. 1000nit is only possible on 2% windows on all but the most highly priced 2018 Samsung QLED screens. A correctly calibrated Q8F puts out 770nits. This monitor is an absolute godsend.

If it ain’t 4K @ 120hz or above in 2018, it needs to be taken off the market imo.

Xbox now supports 120Hz + freesync though. So monitors for console gamers should support that.

Nah, that's just a myth. High refresh rates are a huge improvement for everything, not just for fast-paced competitive games. Latency is one thing, and competitive games are the most sensitive to it. Image clarity however affects every game. After the death of CRTs, we had blurry motion for a long time due to how LCDs work (60FPS on a 60Hz CRT has better motion quality than even 1000FPS on a 1000Hz LCD, for example, if such thing existed.) 60Hz gaming is really not good for any game. Just because many people have gotten used to it, and many others having never known any better, does not make it good. 60Hz for a gaming monitor should be a big NO.

Yes....because xbox games totally run at 120fps..... There's no reason to have 120hz AND freesync enabled monitors/TVs for consoles, since that obviously will never get used, will more then likely be stuck at 30hz, and hopefully, 60hz.

Well, it depends on the game. The world doesn't only consist of so-called "AAA" titles. But even then, freesync work much better on 120Hz even for 30FPS and 60FPS games. 120Hz LCD panels have been around for quite a while now. They can't be considered "premium" anymore. Frankly, they should be standard. Anyway, since this is a 4K monitor, I'm probably overreacting. For 120Hz operation, you'd need to drive the monitor at 1080p or 1440p (xbox added support for 1440p too), but then you'd be upscaling anyway. Better get a 1440p monitor for high-refresh freesync on the xbox.

I need you to explain this to me. How does 120hz benefit 30fps and 60fps games with freesync enabled, even though with freesync enabled, the hz will be synced to the fps, never going above 60hz? Without freesync? Sure, i can see that. Because the monitor would still be going at 120hz, and possibly having screentearing as a result. But with freesync? That doesn't make any sense to me.

Now in regards to this part, and i could be wrong, but: I don't know of any game that goes above 60fps on the xbox one/s/x. I know of some that go to 60fps, and that's the max, but not above that. Correct me if i'm wrong ofcourse, and tell me which title, but to my knowledge even a game that is very basic are locked to 30fps or 60fps or go inbetween 30fps and 60fps but are locked still below 61fps.

Well console wise the games might be capped at 30,40,50 fps but is the HDMI not still sending it at 60hmz, so i assume this is were this vrr comes into play, so that even when there are drops in frame rates the vrr makes it all continue to be smooth, judder and screen tear free, well i hope i was reading and comprehending the info right. Lol But hey, at the end of they day it's a added feature thst might help make the gaming experience better, and that is what it's all about, so more power to them.

Monitors with screen capable to do 120Hz have electronics fast enough to do it. That's one reason for decreased input lag (user input to light emitted). 2nd benefit of fast screens is faster transition between pixel states (less ghosting).
