So it's not making the drive perform any faster is just reducing the load on the drive when the systems in use, it's a good move but nothing earth shaking.
Ah, the hard drives. I wonder who uses them this days... π
Still using two here in my system.
1TB SSD (Main drive)
2TB HDD 2.5 Inch (3 Partitions for various uses)
2TB HDD 2.5 Inch (Acronis True Image backups)
Why slow 2.5 Inch drives? They're twice as silent as a big one. And still i use them inside a HDD silencer which makes them completely inaudible and stll fit in a HDD bay.
I think in general, more rigs will have a HDD in them than not. Usually as backup drives, or for some less demanding games that don't need fast reads. Whatever tweak to make them "faster" is always welcome.

POR-...add-...oh wait, I mean -multimedia collectors- who don't like to depend on the internet for their fa-, I mean, pleasure, no, relaxation - no, damn it! - I mean entertainment!? Oh fuck it... π³
Nice, i still use a wd black 6tb 7200rpm for games only and a 2d black 4tb 7200rpm for random crap
and if m.2 ssds cant get to 6tb at a reasonable price then i will buy another wd6tb hdd
Iv a samsung 1tb m.2 970 evo for os only and it really is fast, just wish they came in much bigger size
Looking forward to a more intelligent indexing.
I am still on prehistoric spinning rusty harddrives in my mediacenter/NAS.
2x 8Tb spinning platters. Money left over to buy a RTX2080ti EDIT: maybe only a 2080 or super but still EDIT
or
4x 4Tb SSDs and a raidcontroller, power splitter cables, 2 meters tape to mount it all in ITX mediacenter chassis.
@Undying
i think some didnt see the "sarcasm mode: on" for your comment
@TheDeeGee
i sometimes still have phantom hdd noise that i hear, even that i switch to nand years ago π
but especially after moving image storage to m2 i wont go back to hdd.
"giggity", when your OS drive is imaged in 1 min π

I still use them for movies tv series and some big files...
My config is:
512GB Samsung SSD M2 NVME
512GB /old SSD/ SATA
3TB HDD Seagate /1TB HDD for backups /turned off most of the time after 30min idle/
I also have 1 TB external for more backups π
(two computers ... and yes they boot from SSD, duh !)
