Maybe it wouldn't decline if they made something better than the same old 1080p 60hz 1000:1 contrast ratio. Tn panels that look like crap and ips screens that are over-driven at just 60hz.

give us 1440p mainstream and 90+hz mainstream. for real. Nobody has a reason to upgrade their 4 year old 1080p display.

Exactly, we were flooded with 1080p monitors 60hz and anything better costs a premium. Most people are satisfied with the status quo. Same reason PC sales are declining, Windows 8 is a failure and you can comfortably surf the web / email with a pc from 2005. Basically, until Microsoft offers an operating system that does something exciting there will be very few PC sales.
