PCIE SSD's need to go down in price. They are very fast, but they come at a very high premium.

Nice names scheme Patriot, lol. Blaze, Blast, Torch, Pyro, Hellfire. 😀 But yeah, prices need to go down.

Finally something new in the M.2 SSD market! Samsung 950 was the only SSD with good speeds and affordable price. I don't like the adapter it's ok for someone who don't want to buy a new mobo but some manufacturers are also using similar pci adapter solution to add usb 3.1. I prefer integrated M.2 ports (and two of them) on mobo but right now asrock extreme 11 is the only X99 mobo who has 2 Ultra M.2 slots (PCIe Gen3 x4) and option to raid 0. Too expensive due cause it includes 2 PLX chips to allow x16 x16 x16 x16 quad SLI/CFX. :3eyes:

I just ordered a 512gb 950 pro today. I bought a skylake platform so I could have 2 integrated slots as you said. I will sell my old ssds in the meantime and buy a 1tb 950 pro when they come out in a few months. The fact the sata ssds are bottlenecked by their own connector standard is insane. Whoever owns the sata standard mustn't like money or something.

Z170 is great for M.2 and has a lot of options but i'll stick to X99 in my next mobo/CPU/RAM upgrade. I want to be able to do at least X16 X16 SLI/CFX and Z170 chipset only allow 20 lanes for PCI-E graphics (cause it's used for 20 lanes CPUs).
