These mainboards can be cleaned by replacing the cmos chips or usb flashback to overwrite the entire nand partition.

So, my desire to have a Coreboot system wasn't paranoia.
Luckily, I have plans to Coreboot my trusty X220.

It needs physical access so homeusers are not likely to be affected ...except if you PC is used by a gazillion of friends I guess

so unless some one phsyical had access to there pc to install virus/malware, it moot to most people

well obviously if it in bios already it can happen, but most people would never update there bios too as most poeple lucky to know how to use windows and or there phone.. I would hope Asus knew about this back then and made sure the bios update where not tampered with it
