A stupid expensive case with defects because of extra hardware: gotta love that expensive way to blow your hardware to smitheries!

Where these houses burn down?I have yet to see a computer catch on fire and I have been fixing these things since 1999.

I have had 3 desktops and 1 laptop go up in flames in my immediate presence. The laptop was from a faulty battery. The three desktops were either the VRMs/Caps melting down or the fact there was so much dirt/lint/hair/other crap built up in dodgy power supplies that they combusted. I have seen probably close to 4 dozen computers after the fact that had burned to some extent. I have been fixing/repairing computers since the early 80s and it is not as rare occurrence as some think. The random cap or voltage regulator blowing does not count and a small puff of fouls smelling smoke is a very common thing. I have also seen 2 servers self immolate. One was not turned off and wrapped up when drywall was being installed (plaster dust is the devil) and it eventually overheated/shorted out and took everything with it (no backups / ALWAYS DO YOUR BACKUPS) and the other had the power supplies switched to 110v and was plugged into a 220v circuit (that was fireworks literarily).

The LED for the HDD indicicator on my Antec 900 I gave to my ex best friend for his first PC build actually melted and caught the case on fire.....
And that isnt the first thing I have seen either do something like that.

Is that original revision 900 or second revision 900?
Second revision is the one with the holes with the little rubber filler on the rear intended for water cooling... I think... not a 100% sure but Ithink that was the difference.
Also were original fans still present?
I'm still using Antec 900 so.. um.. yeah.

It was the original revision. Did not have the holes in the back. All original fans too.
My friend/room mate is using my other that is the 2nd revision with the holes for water cooling in the back. Zero issues with that case. Original fans too.

I wonder what actually caused it, had it been taken apart at all?
Was it the reset button that caused it or the wire leading from it?

From what I could find out it was the LED had caused it. Only time it was taken apart was the first time I built a rig with it in 2013. But the top was never removed again and still had the ground connected.

Use ceramic screw or plastic screw temporarily.

You can remove the screw that is there already and check for damage to the PCB. If there is none put one of those fiber washers used between old school motherboard mounts and the bottom of the motherboard between the screw head and pcb. It is nonconductive.
