I think architecturally they was to advance to be able to sell them in China. Hence the Axe. With the ban also on the likes of the 4090 it seems to me that if NVidia want to remain in the computer gaming fraternity then they will have to move to dumb cards. Like the old? Meh! 😛

they already don't want to make gaming cards so that should be interesting for the future.

Well Nvidia could just rename GPU's to AiPU's, year 2050 GPU's relics of the past.

End of the GTX era.

The end of any nivida cards even remotely low priced, so get ready for a new nvida pricing structure, so 700 quid low end nvida cards, 1400 mid level cards and 2500 quid high end cards.......then 4000 grand prem ti top of the range RR carfs, as in Rolls Royce cards brand cards. Lol Well be interesting to see in 12 months time how close i came to the actual prices they end up being. Lol

if they do that AMD and Intel will easily run with it and be the new "normal" peoples card suppliers.

Still blows my mind that Jensen decided "yeah, let's drop the GPU moniker that everybody knows" when they made the switch to RTX. I was always an ATI/AMD kid growing up, but NV converted me when I made my first large GPU purchase with a GTX 980 Ti. One little thing that bugs me is how my British friends pronounce the NV GPU names now. It used to be that we'd all say "jee-tee-ex" but now I say "arrrrrr-tee-ex" and they say "ahhhhh-tee-ex" 😡 Dang it, Jensen! Didn't even consider how this would affect US/UK relations while he was drunk on ray tracing sauce! 😛

This is not the case, don't make assumptions.

a damn shame but one that AMD/Intel have pushed along with their increasingly powerful iGPU and entry level cards. Nvidia doesn't care about budget gaming because they don't have to. i've long recommended these cards over entry level rtx because the entry level can't rtx very well and the raster is about the same. dlss is more valuable today than day 1 but not at 50%+ the price for a similar performance
