AMD gets rid of the bridge, Nvidia counters by putting LED's on theirs.

Everyone worth their salt is going to want to vajazzle their pc with these. Amd users can just tape 6 of them to the side of their cards and I can jam a few in empty drive bays etc. Shiny=better right?

:D Would have only been better if they didn't include any bridges with their upcoming cards, so you have to buy those.

I have an idea for Nvidia: Make the leds RGB capable (or at least different colors), or hand it out unassembled, and charge us 70€ for it! How would that be? :bonk:

Didn't AMD get rid of these things with their 200 series cards? Are they now called gBridges btw?

Bridges usually are included with your motherboard. AMD included bridges with their cards in the past.

True, kind of forgot since I bought my last mainboard in 2010, and such things tend to mix up in my closet once the boxes are opened.

AMD runs everything through PCI-E as part of it's initiative to improve frametime smoothing. Thus they have no need for a crossfire/sli bridge on the top. Nvidia could do the same but instead they choose to sell you LED's with their bridge.

$30 for a bridge..No thank you.I will just use the one that comes with the motherboard / gpu.

Right, Nvidia did the same through drivers to smooth out frames and cpu bottlenecks. Hence the huge FPS gains we had in many titles through DX9-11 over the last few sets. SLI saw some nice improvements. Different way of doing it, same outcome if not better.

Well I liked the idea of LED based SLI bridges it allows the LED enthusiast to have more color inside of their computer. I like the no bridge idea of AMD for the 290/290x cards because it subtracts a possible problem that can happen if the bridges are faulty. Yeah I know that this can be a rare problem but still exists.
