I wonder if it provides any other benefits / fixes?

I was wondering the same myself... I ran the tool and it reports that my own EVGA GTX 1080 Ti requires the update but since I don't need it right now then I quit it. My ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q monitor only supports DisplayPort 1.1/1.2 and I cannot see myself buying an HDR display before my next GPU upgrade anyway. However, I wondered if this fix provides any 'bug' fixes for DisplayPort that might improve 1.1 and 1.2. Best not to update, I guess, unless you have to.

I already have HDR on my Monitor from 2012, it's called Adobe RGB (97%) πŸ˜›

yeah and I use peasant version of HDR - called FakeHDR shader in ReShade... but hey at least compared to real HDR, this one actually works!

I did the update. 1 reboot and it's done.

DisplayPort 1.3 and 1.4 Display ? for what ? 1. The OLED or QLED screen only consumes HDMI Receivers only consume HDMI So what's worth DisplayPort ? 2. Televisions today support real 120Hz

Read HIlbert's post:
Nvidia is now allowing you to update GPUs with a firmware to enable HDR color accuracy. That might come in pretty handy for people who are on the lookout for the upcoming ACER/ASUS HDR Gsync 144hz monitors.

I assume this only modifies a part of the firmware? Because 3rd-party boards have different firmwares (factory OCing, different fan speeds and whatnot.) And can you roll back if something doesn't work correctly after the update?

That's what I was asking myself all the time too. If so, no big deal, but if something goes wrong what to do?

I update mine too, just because. Lol dunno why I shouldn't My monitor has fake hdr too 125% srgb xD Anyway it worked, but only after I flashed back my stock bios, it didn't work on maxwell bios tweaker modded one.. Already flashed back to modded version with new updated firmware, so all is good.

HDR is primarily about increased range of brightness/luminosity (or contrast ratio, if you want to call it that), not color volume - although HDR displays will often have a higher color volume as well. So no, you do not.

I'm hoping they will be able to do something like this for HDMI 2.1 support.

The big feature of HDMI 2.1 is increased bandwidth so we can finally do 4k@60Hz 10/12-bit (or even higher refresh) without quality loss. You can't patch that into firmware - well, unless their HDMI transceivers are already designed for much higher bandwidth then HDMI 2.0 uses, but I personally doubt that. I just hope the next gen of cards comes with full HDMI 2.1 support, that would be enough for me. It would suck if they don't include it yet just because no TVs support it yet. Someone has to do the first step, so don't lag behind NVIDIA!

I'm getting a 404 error when I try to download the file itself from the Nvidia site linked here. Is this just me or are they down now for some reason? Update: I was able to download with Firefox, but not with Chrome or Edge. Just in case anyone else runs into the same problem I did. Update 2: Both of the cards that needed the bios fix were successfully updated. πŸ™‚

I would like to know the answer to this also as my MSI factory OC 980Ti says I have an update.

Buy a lousy LCD screen size 29 "- / + Today is a joke. you have QLED 55/65 " 4K + 1080P120FPS FreeSync +VA panl + HDR 2000nits + 15ms in the game mode. It is expected to be β€œless than 7 ms” in VRR mode.+ HDR (HDR10, HDR10+, HLG) + ++++

Uhkay, it's updated. Computer didn't break. I'm still lonely and miserable. This wasn't the miracle cure for all life's problems. Sad.
