This won't be a high end gpu for obvious reasons. I'm thinking a 1792 CUDA cores 1060ti on a 192bit memory bus, otherwise it would be too close to the 1070. 6gb only. This at around £250 would be a pretty nice card actually.

Something unnecessary - that's for sure. A 1060 TI or something ridiculous. nVidia is notorious for making big splashes and hype for nothing hype worthy.

They create hype for garbage software like GeForce Experience. You better believe they will hype a piece of hardware as useless as the 1060 "this edition is slightly different".

With 580 coming out soon, it's only sensible if Nvidia counter it. Otherwise they would be losing out in quite a lucrative bracket of the market.
