This is a synthetic benchmark, highly parallelized and optimized. Chances are that most games won't get even 60% performance increase in rasterization. And then there are the price increases. This might be the first GPU generation were price/performance recedes, because GPU makers decided so. There isn't even the excuse of mining to justify this rip-off.

The 3090 was (officially) 1500 usd at release, while the 4090 is officially 1600 usd... in actuality i paid 13k dkk for my 3090 strix, and will end up paying 19k dkk for the 4090 strix. The 4090 is gonna be close to the advertised 80% faster at 8k. The "4080's" are rip-offs, but not the 4090 - at least not looking at it 3090 vs 4090.

I'm interested to see performance difference compared to 3090 Ti in rasterization performance. I just hope it can maintain 120+ FPS in 1440p 240Hz or 90+ FPS in 4K at maximum settings.

The fact that you think 1500 for a GFX card is normal means nVidia conditioned you well the last two years.

Last 2 years? Either you are new to the tech bizz, or you just don't know what you are talking about. Nvidia started this BS back with kepler and the titan. Nvidia has now dropped the titan name, but it is essentially what the x90 model is. Do i think 1500 for a gpu is a fair price? No, but the 4090 price is alot more fair than the price for the "4080" models.

What beautifull times to be around ! 1600EUR/USD for a video card ... dusting off my Series X that was 499EUR (entire system with bells and whistles)... RX6800 equivalent or similar for a fraction of the price with optimized games ... This year I'm gaming on Xbox for sure and a maybe another 2-3 I could manage .... Ohhh nvm "1999 to 2549 EUR" in europe what a joke ...with the HUGE difference I can buy myself all the games that come out in 5-10 years ...

+60% for "worst of crypto era" prices seems a bit steep to me, now for slightly more than half you get a 3090ti the double video encoder is what interested me mostly to be honest I wonder if you can split in two different encodings ? so you could stream with 1, encode for youtube with another and leave the cpu for the game my tv is only 4k 60hz (2018 oled) so I'm good for 4k edit : I had 580-680-780-980-1080 (all gens in SLI !) then 1080ti-3090 prices are not as abusive as you think I remember paying like 450 decades ago until 840 for the 1080ti add 100-200$/gen and you get 940-1040 for 2080 1040-1240 for 3080 and 1140-1440 for 4080 so of course 2300 is too much but 1500 for a 90 ? not an 80 ? is in line...you do get more performance you know ? and it's a luxury good like a sportscar not an everyday appliance and if you stop comparing current, end of life, 2nd hand prices (nor fake MSRPs that don't exist anywhere else than north america anyway) there's not such a large raise in prices than you think (talking about base models here the variances between AIB is too wild but that's another problem) edit : years ago I wanted to buy an Audi S3 you know how much more it is today for roughly the same specs ? +20'000 😱 if you think everything is following TVs pricing life is going to be very disappointing

But the 3090 was already a ripoff. Now nvidia is expanding the rip-off to the entire range. And then there are the prices for Europe...

Easily, with DLSS 2/3 😀

So that 60% is only CUDA vs CUDA, not RT vs RT? Crypto bros go buy this ish now!!! Crypto 4ever! /s....

I guess you missed the ''rasterization'' part o_O After analyzing DLSS for hours in many titles, let's just say I'm no longer interested in it in most titles, nor in other similar ''tech''. Its good performance boost, but I just hate any kind of ghosting, blurring the image, random artifacts, forced strong sharpening etc, its just not for me. That being said if DLSS 3+ would improve/fix those things I'm sold..

It is normal, people aren't conditioned, they are just being realistic.

The 3090 was much less a ripoff than the titan lineup it replaced 🙂

Curious that we are just comparing which was the biggest rip-off. It's really sad.

I was expecting a 90/100% performance increase compared to the 3090. If the performance difference between gens is bellow 80%, then i`m going to be very disappointed with the 4000 series.

I just think most people that don't have a lot of spare cash, especially now with the World's recession happening/looming, people are gonna be either sticking with whatever GPU they've got from the previous gen or downgrading from their x80 cards to x60 or x70 for the next gen purchase. For sure NVidia is bound to see less sales of their higher end cards given the world economy....and you know they do need to experience that.....it might mean that future generations of cards beyond the 4000 series will be targeted to be better value. Buying a cheap 2nd hand 3000 series card is probably a good option if they keep an eye on how that market is trending, I don't need to view that so I don't know what the 2nd hand card market is doing now & in the near future for 3000 series cards. Surely there's gonna be some super cheap ex mining cards coming on......if I was in the market I'd probably take a risk on one that was at near stupid low pricing when they all hit the market.

Seriously, don't say "it's a crap" or "wow i will get everything in ultra at 100fps in in 8K"... The only fact is info from NV and so it could be not so... you know... as always... So if i were you i would wait that the card is tested correctely in order to have real fact. Don't be lambs that follow the hype 🙂

Wait for actual game benches, but I do find it curious though? leaking performance numbers from something it really should be excellent in over last gen, but not showing 100% uplift at extra 100w? 350w to 450w. Might suggest actual game performance isn't the same without DLSS 3.0 active.

People like to belittle things that are out of their reach, financially or otherwise.
