In the face to those who said it is going to be slower than the 780 ti and that 250bit lanes are limiting. Even the 970 is very close to 780 ti in 4k :P

Honestly, just goes to show you, until you get down to it, it really is all conjecture and wasted opinions. Wait till you see the numbers and then judge accordingly.

As a 680s owner, these cards are awesome. Now I will wait for MSI to pull out their gaming/ligthing line and decide wether I go 2x980 or hell, at this pricepoint, even 3x970 doesn't sound too bad. :O

Happens every time a lower bit bus new gen card is released. Since the 128bit 6600gt chewed up the earlier higher bit bus flagship cards 10 years ago. Expect it with Pascal next year as well and expect same pie in the face outcome for the lower bit bus detractors there too.

I will buy 970 and overlock the sh*t out of it 😀 And even if there will be in six months a Ti version, i don't care, i will have nice boost from 750Ti. The only thing i am little disappointed are the two power connectors, i hoped for one, after cordless 750 Ti.

These are hugely impressive GPUs. While still using the 28nm process and reducing the transistor count, Nvidia have produced a faster, more efficient GPU which is capable of higher clockspeeds!

It's disappointing that a card that is consistently above the 780Ti 10-15% draws ~160W vs. the ~250W+ a 780Ti draws?

is this a ****ing joke??? people with 290x or 780ti have no focking reason to upgrade..what happened with performance jump between generations of gpu's?...it's clear i'll continue gaming on my ps4..

These cards are pretty decent. Not ideal to upgrade from 780 up or 290 up tho. On the efficiency side they shine for sure.
But yeah... If only the cards were some 20% faster on average then 290x or 780 ti. But nah not today.
So it is either 20nm part or 20nm part next.
Now if those cards weren't at least this fast I would have been seriously disappointed. Who ever thought nvidia would release slower cards was crazy anyways 😀

Woah, for 270EUR the 970 is sooo damn tempting, especially recently my gpu is starting to show it's bad side.

The focus of the new Maxwell GPU's are the Performance vs Power(TDP) ratio, especially the Maxwell GPU's on Mobile Platforms are insane (yes I am quoting the 860M's).
Hell I just got a Nv 760 card some days ago, Now I am totally impressed that the new 970's and 980's will run around the same TDP yet they are faster.

There isn't meant to be. If your on the 770 or lower, then theres worth in upgrading. But if your on the 780 or higher, there isn't. Just like going from 480 to 580, or 580 to 680, or 680 to 780 (ref model).
Its never been standard practice to upgrade from previous gens highend to the newest gens highend.

Guys, what do you think I should do? My 780Ti isn't enough for 1440p gaming so either I get 970 SLI or 980SLI. Question is which?

Seriously, both have their advantages.... 980 has power, but the 970 might prove handy because of lower temperatures for SLI setups, unless you go h2o of course.

Excellently designed cards on all fronts: look fantastic / excellent power consumption / ridiculously good performance per Watt / slight increase in performance over 700 series.
If I owned a 770 or 780 I wouldn't upgrade to the 970 or 980 though - not a significant enough performance leap. It'll be interesting to see how much the 980ti will offer in performance, but if I had 770/780 I'd wait to upgrade at the next die shrink - next year hopefully.
Really good solid products though, look like real quality, and good value I think too.
