I'm callin' it first: this will be more powerful than the next Nintendo console.

Looks nice. If the price is good and the specs check out, it should be a great dedicated PhysX card, too. Hopefully there will be a low profile variant, too.

If its around 100 Euro it would be nice for HTCP cause of the HDMI 2.0.

Even a 750ti is 120€ atm, 950 seems little bit faster. Idk, alot of cards at low-mid range, if nvidia dont price right it wont be competitive.

^^750 Ti goes from $100 to $150 based on edition. this has 128SP more. it may go for $120~150 once price settles a bit and in time it may reach that $100 mark. Don't think that this is good enough for PhysX. I've seen some test where 2x TX used for rendering + 750Ti for PhysX. It performed worse than having one TX for rendering and other one PhysX. That means 750Ti which may be like 20~25% slower than this 950 was far from enough to feed even one TX.

Looks ok for an entry level system with a low wattage psu.

so, you have "gazilions" to spend on a 4K TV, and you go cheap with the GTX750 because it has HDMI 2.0. Really...
Because you don't need a high end card for an HTPC.... A GTX 950 would be perfectly suited for the tasks of an HTPC. Why would you spend more for power you're not going to use.
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/243/243702.jpg
and you need 60Hz for what then?
For me 60Hz desktop is choppy, 120Hz is acceptable, but would love to have it much more fluid. Having desktop on 30Hz would be damn unpleasant.

Exactly what Cartman372 said. 30hz on my 4k 65" Samsung is really bad nothing like the 60hz on my 1080p 55" TV. Also sometimes chopping lines come up on some movie you have to close the player and reeopen it and then it's fine I've tested it on 1920 res where it went to 60hz and it never did that so 60hz would be a lot better.

If, on the off chance, he wanted to do 4K 3D then he'd need HDMI 2.0.

Guys, dont get me wrong, but this is plain stupid. With the GTX 950 you wont be able to play games @ 4K. Not even 4K 30 Hz, not to mention 4K 60Hz. HDMI 2.0 ads 4k 60Hz support, THATS it. So, you say that everything untill HDMI 2.0 was rubbish. IMHO, IF you spend so much money on a 4K TV, why dont you get a decent one with decent conectivity (ie Display Port)
We are not getting you wrong, you are getting wrong others. I am darn sure that 4k 3D meant having 4k movie in 3D.
Hdmi 1.4a and hdmi 1.4b supports 30FPS 4K 3D Tv. you dont need 60 Hz
And here you are wrong, 1.4a/b supports 30Hz 4k. That is just enough to deliver 15Hz 4k 3D full image. If you have line interleaved 3D video, then it is not full 4K video. And even if I was to send 3D movie to TV, I would prefer to have possibility to use SVP or other thing to increase refresh rate of that video to 60Hz.

But you wouldn't buy a GTX 950 to play games at 4K. You'd buy a GTX 950 to put into an HTPC for movies and such. Not only that but most 4K TVs do not have DP connectivity, they use HDMI. Even Samsungs 88" Curved 4K 3D TV, a TV that retails for over $15,000, doesn't use DP. Perhaps you should do a bit more reading on HDMI 2.0 because it certainly adds more than just 4k 60hz support. You get a 2020 color space, YCbCr 4:2:0, 1536 kHz audio, 32 channels of audio, 2 video streams, 4 audio streams and 21:9 support.
Hdmi 1.4a and hdmi 1.4b supports 30FPS 4K 3D Tv. you dont need 60 Hz
Perhaps you should do some reading up before you start giving us misinformation. HDMI 1.4 does not support 4K 3D at 30fps.

edit: double

sorry man, for me HTPC is nothing without gaming. I might be wrong with some hdmi specs, but to me it is pointless to spend that kind of money for a 4k TV and gimp it with a GTX 950. But that's just me.
Definition of HTPC disagrees with you again. But it does not mean that You can't do some gaming on gtx950, you'll just have to do it on 1080p mostly.

In case you don't know, HTPC stands for "Home Theater PC". Last time I checked, they're not playing games at theaters... If you're building an HTPC for gaming, you're clearly just building a gaming rig for your living room, and not an HTPC. It's not might be wrong, you were wrong about the specs. HDMI 2.0 adds a lot of features. Also if you're getting a 4K TV for gaming, you're doing it wrong. TVs are certainly not designed for heavy gaming due to latency issues.

as i was saying it is my opinion about HTPC. At this moment, 4K is a niche product, not everybody can aford it, and who does, they can afford "above average" Home Theatre equipment. Maybe if you buy a simple 4K Tv that it is not a smart TV. Smart TVs and ntwork AVRs make a better combo for a HT environment. But i dont want to take this conversation into a different area 😉 For me the conclusion remains the same: it is stupid to buy a 4K TV and gimp it with a HTPC with a GTX 950...
with that opinion out of the way, it would be a great mid-low profile gpu for a Home Theatre PC.

Meh, even the 960 was a massive disappointment.

You guys realize that there's a market for this card right? My old 750ti served me well for over a year. Not everyone plays AAA games all the time. The only cards worth upgrading to from a 750 ti or the new 950 would be the 970 or 390. Anything in between is useless, anything more is rather useless unless 4k or a demanding title at 1440p.
