the maxwell 750ti with it's uber clock speeds packs a solid punch, for around £100. the 780 was cheaper generally than 680 at release, 880 may be cheaper than 780.

much cheaper mean the GTX 880 sells for 499€, the 880 Ti for 624€, a GTX Titan2 Black for 899€ and if you want a Titan2 Z, you need to chunk out 2799€... ok i am trolling 🙂 lol

NVIDIA and cheap does not work together at times, but who knows? 680 was cheaper than 7970 then, whatever prices wars are good for us.

AMD released R9 290 and Nvidia dropped the 780 price.Which was good. Now it looks like AMD may be forcing Nvidia to drop prices on newer Nvidia products,I know its a rumor, but it may happen and competition is great for the consumer.

Nope No way they would release an 880 later this year, it would kill sales for the 770, 780 &780 Ti and thus replace half of Nvidias current market.

But they will release those cards later this year.

Exactly! Nvidia and cheap don't often go in the same sentence

Is this the same Nvidia that want over $3K for two underclocked Titan Blacks on the same PCB when two Titan Blacks only cost ~$2K? I'm sure there are a few more letters they can tack on to existing hardware to milk us just a little further before we move on to Maxwell. Titan ZX 24GB 780 TIXL 12GB I mean come on, they've only respun this gen 2 times ffs /sarcasm off

I think the 880 will be like 680 , not a very high end product... Prefer to wait to 980 in 20 nm 😉

Yep, that's the only reason it will be 'cheap' I'm guessing 10% faster than the 780Ti. The real 'King' Maxwell will no doubt launch at $800.00 or more.

Its funny to see nvidia talking about cheap GPU's. 😀

I would like that because i need a new GPU but i don´t believe it...

Even though I have my doubts I would love this to be true... prices are simply insane in the 700 series. I payed a lot for my current cards, never thought there would be even more expnensive cards coming out, but rather replace the pricepoint of the old generation, as it should. But the current trend is that each new generation gets a serious price bump and in this way 2-3 years from now high-end cards will simply become close to unafordable. I will most likely end up buying 1-2 880s cards IF they have enough vram to be futureproof, if not I'll have to look at AMD, vram on the 700 series is simply a joke (with the exception of Titans which are a jokes in themselves price wise) if you play at anything above 1080p.

I hope that 880 releases this year with at least 6GB of memory as vram requirements will start rising pretty fast.

As much as I am still dubious of CF, I may well be trying AMD again in the near future. Nvidia's SLI support is rubbish at present with many of this years big releases either not supported or broken (Watch Dogs, TitanFall, W:TNO) I'm not going to be giving Nvidia any more money unless there is a substantial improvement. I've seen 290X for $499.00 (non reference cooling), how Nvidia thinks it can sell a comparable card with less VRAM for ~$300.00 more is beginning to vex me no end.

What on earth uses 6GB? Or 5? Or 4?
