Very good performing card. This is a card to get indeed. It does improve quite a bit in dx12 tittles. Maxwell will only slip behind more and more in the future.

this would be really nice upgrade from 660gtx, not sure I would want to pay the asking price though, Wonder what the 1060gtx will do, but I Thinking it most likely isnt gonna have GDDR5X or HBM2 memory

Why is it overclocking gain in fps is so minimal on 1070? 2Ghz overclock for 10% faster than stock. Its a joke compared to 980ti oc.
384bit vs 256bit 25% vs 13% oc 2000mhz vs 2150mhz on memory, the gtx 980ti is running at the stock memory clocks of the gtx 970 with higher bit interface. about 900 more cuda cores, along with more mature drivers. I would wait for the custom cards and see, if the better power delivery and higher oc make a difference, otherwise, the 980ti looks like the better card this time around.

Looks like a brilliant card. I was going to buy this, but I expected it to cost £350 and be slightly slower than a 1500mhz 980ti. Even after overclocking the 1070. So a bought a 980ti. Saved myself £50 and haven't lost any performance. That being said, at £350, this is a great card. Nvidia could easily charge more, seeing as it consistently beats AMD's top end. This will sell loads. No doubt. Great review btw.

Two of these would be a nice upgrade for the 670's. Waiting to see how Polaris looks.

Nice review boss. Sounds like the card that I am looking for. Looks like my PSU should be able to handle the card overclocked. I hope that this card can last me a good while to come.

Well can't really compare Maxwell and pascal simply because both have different architectures in their own right, despite the cuda cores, its going to take at least 6+ months for pascal drivers to mature, hopefully when the big pascal, aka HBM2 Version, the drivers will be somewhat good to go. The performance of theses cards are just going to get better overtime so its gonna take some time before it really shines, anyways, nice review, thanks.

Hmm, it's super fast and slick for 1440p and lower. It seems to bog down at 4k though (compared to the 1080). Now I really want to see the release date and pricing of the AIB 1080s. 🤓

wait for the board partners to relase their porper cards. I din't think anything significantly higher than 2.2Ghz will be possible, but I expect pascal to get another 20% with oc just like maxwell did...
The Zotac 1080 amp extreme looks very good, Can't wait to see reviews for both zotac and gigabyte version of both 1070 and the 1080. The zotac looks very promising, even though I have never owned a zotac product before, looks very promising as it has an additional pci-e power connector for extra power delivery, This is going to be one awesome card.

But the reference maxwell cards did not clock significantly lower than the average high-end aib model most of the reference 980tis (with the damn heatblower) oc'd to around ~1450-1480 in reviews, 980/970 slightly higher Top end cards like msi lightning, gigabyte g1,xtreme, evga classified etc on air ~1500 for 980ti avg (top air around 1570) 980/970 around 1550

Yeah agree, the only real difference was they were cooler. By 1070/1080 it will also help by stabler boost OC, but I think 2.1-2.2Ghz boost is pretty much the limit with GP104 chip. Full GP102 chip might even have hard time breaking 2GHz boost barrier.

The Zotac PGF 1080 series will have even higher factory oc than the extreme version along with a 16+2 phase PWM design.

The 1070 is a really great card, almost the same as running a 980ti. Perfect for 1440p gaming. These will sell like hotcakes.

Looks like I'll be picking up a EVGA SC or FTW edition, should be perfect for my 1080p 144hz monitor
