8GB 3050.... if it's actually priced correctly I will be tempted to buy one.

There shouldn't be 4GB discrete graphics cards produced in 2022, that amount has been too low for quite a while now.

I need atleast a 3060 Ti as a worthy upgrade for my 1070. I have a feeling that's not gonna happen for a while, as €1200 is far away from 10% above MSRP.

It's an entry level card, though. You don't buy an entry level card expecting to play the latest AAA games with settings turned all the way up. For medium settings and 1080p, 4GB might still be enough. For the manufacturers dropping the VRAM to 4GB from 8GB would bring some savings. Although consumers will never see any savings as long as miners are in power.

There are several games now that absolutely needs at least 6gb vram now, regardless of settings, if you dont want reduced performance and stuttering from vram swapping. I personally would advice heavily against getting a gpu now with less than 8gb vram, even if it is an entry level product.

4gb is really on low side. Many games will be stuck with low texture settings despite card having enough gpu power.

If they made a half height 3050 with 4GB it would sell. A lot of people keep those old SFF business desktops around due to their form factor or just a general love for older hardware.

Where? Please show me where a 3050 is going to benefit from 8GB of ram? ...Again, 3050, not 3080, not even 3060, i'm asking about the 3050. There's a thing called diminishing returns. There's almost no way a 3050 will benefit from the 8GB of ram except for in cryptocurrency, as there's no game it'll be able to play at settings that'll be playable where more then 4GB will improve the performance in any meaningful way. I swear this forum is just...filled with people who care about a number rather then the performance. And to everyone else claiming the same thing: Proof? Where's the proof? it'd be great to see this mythical proof.

Extra VRAM cost money, let say for example the 4GB version sell for 150usd and 8GB for 200usd (for example only 😀), is having slightly better texture quality worth paying 30% more? Not like anyone could tell the difference between High and Ultra Texture quality at 1080p without pixel peeping.

Im talking about low to ultra settings difference not high to ultra. Thats how big difference makes 4v8gb.

Just two examples off the top of my head... No Man's Sky uses more than 4 gb of VRAM on any resolution for textures, geometry tessellation, etc. Diablo 2 Resurrected uses more than 4 gb of VRAM at its top quality settings. Both games mean that you have to sacrifice quality for performance (regardless of resolution) on ANY 4 gb VRAM card from the 970 on up. So, count me in on the vote for no more graphics cards with only 4 gb VRAM in the modern age. 🙂

Unless crypto performance would be somehow crippled to minimum, we will not benefit from these cards.. and even them, there are scalpers.

4 gb is low but if you are running a 1080p budget system like i did for years it's ok. My GTX980 G1 can still run most games just fine. I do agree though in 2021/22 8 gigs should be the minimum.

I was going to purchase an RX 580 at the end of last year when I upgraded everything else and that video card had 8gb memory before the price was inflated from under $300 to be nearly $900 when I went to go purchase it.. and from what I understand a 3050 is more powerful than an RX 580 so that makes it interesting for me.

LOL always hilarious seeing people cry about the vram amount on a mainstream GPU. 4GB is enough especially for you DLSS lovers. Most games I have tested my RX 570 8GB dont even use 6GB on a 3440x1440 panel.

Icant wait to see how high thescapled prices are, I also want to see how high of MSRP nvidia is gona try push on them

Most definetely. Im still on my 970GTX with 4gb ( If prices werent so insane atm i would probably switch now to 8gb or higher ) and games like Cyberpunk and Red Dead will max this out real fast. These are the only two games so far though ( I dont play a whole lot else ) that were simply too much for a 4gb gpu. I had to lower my resolution in both games to make it playable and create some headroom to atleast play at decent quality without setting everything at low. 4gb in these days for gaming and in the near future just isnt gonna cut it.

Mainstream can have many kinds of memory configurations: 3060 and 6700XT have 12GB, 6600 (XT) and 3070 have 8GB, 6800 has 16GB.

Let's be honest here: You shouldn't even buy x050 if you are planning to play the latest AAA games. It's good, with its 4GB, for old games and those esports titles that some live and breath for.
