I don't get why you guys are being so vague with your posts. DLSS 3 is made up of 3 pieces of technology. Super Resolution, Frame Interpolation and Reflex. Super Res/Reflex will still be supported on 2000/3000 series. Frame Interpolation won't be. Is it *possible* to get frame interpolation on older cards? Sure. Will it look good or be in anyway useful? Probably not. Based on the spiderman videos it barely looks good on 4000 series, despite the 4x increase in tensor performance and newer/more accurate optical flow acceleration.

I watched those side-by-side comparisons but I couldn't tell the difference. Then again, it's YouTube and maybe how I was viewing it as well. How did it look to yourself? Nearly comparable or avoid if possible?

DLSS, FSR and all other upscaling techniques are very favorable for marketers and Youtubers. Because if you stand still and take a screenshot ofcourse image looks perfect (TechPowerUp likes doing these comparisons, IMO they are nearly useless), alternatively if you make a video for Youtube it will also look great because video compression punishes native resolution image and benefits DLSS/FSR image. I remember DF singing praises about DLSS since their 2080Ti coverage, and it was hard to see any negatives in their videos, it did look nearly perfect. It's only when I got Nvidia GPU myself and started playing on a big 4K TV that I started seeing deficiencies of DLSS/FSR. It's been really hit and miss so far. It's really hard to take serious those who proclaim that DLSS is always better than native rendering, they either have no attention to detail at all or are just marketing victims.

NVIDIA do not care who they sell the graphics cards to, only that they sell. They have never really cared about the gamers who made them a success in the first place, despite claims to the contrary. Their priority is solely to the shareholders who want them to make as much money as possible and if that means selling overpriced GPUs with restricted features limited only to only newer cards, such as DLSS 3, to 'entice' enthusiasts to upgrade then I'm sure they have no problem doing so and haven't given it a second thought. They know their new cards will sell out regardless of what the hardware enthusiasts say about them and it seems so far there has been a surprising amount of negativity aimed at NVIDIA over the RTX 4000 announcement, at least as far as I can tell from looking at forums and so on. Personally, I'm glad I bought an RTX 3080 a few month's ago for £750 because that is as much as I am prepared to pay for a high-end graphics card that will be replaced by something better within 12-18 months tops. My previous £700 GTX 1080 Ti lasted me 4.5 years and the only reason I upgraded was to experience DLSS and ray-tracing in modern games. Now I have such hardware, the appeal of the 4000 series card is seriously diminished as they do not offer me anything new plus I play games at 1440p and will continue to do for years to come because that is the sweet spot for performance and visual fidelity. I play upscaled 4K games on my Xbox Series X and PS5 in HDR on a 55" OLED TV and, honestly, I think 4K is overrated personally (I play most consoles games at 60 fps with a lower resolution anyway). Sure, the 4000 cards are faster but there aren't really any games out that require it as most games are still last-gen ports due to COVID and PS5/Xbox Series X hardware availability. As for DLSS 3, I think it is a pretty scummy move by NVIDIA to restrict it to current cards only. NVIDIA have a track record of introducing some great features but many of these are poorly supported in games. Remember PhysX? Hairworks? In order to gain more developer support in as many games as possible, NVIDIA need to make DLSS available on as many cards as possible, including DLSS 3, which really should be backward compatible with older RTX 2000 and 3000 cards in my opinion, even if they don't run it as well as newer cards. This is one area where I feel AMD are stronger as they typically allow their graphical enhancements to also run on NVIDIA hardware, e.g. FSR 1.0 and 2.0.

Same bullshit that Interger Scaling only worked on Turing and higher. Yet when i switch monitors i see the option flash by. It's just disabled to make you buy a new GPU.

When you refer to the side by side comparisons, are you referring to the Nvidia one? I agree it looks pristine, but I wouldn't trust any footage or graphs Nvidia puts out. Denial is referring to this video and specifically roughly this timestamp. [youtube=qyGWFI1cuZQ] If you pause at really any point during the wall run on the glass you can see artifacting around the body especially the legs and the shadowed areas are noticably lower quality

The weird thing is, frame interpolation seems like it'd be less computationally expensive compared to everything else DLSS does, so I'm kind of surprised it wouldn't be available. However, older GPUs might not have enough tensor cores to handle all of DLSS3, but it'd be cool if you could at least choose between supersampling and frame interpolation. For example, maybe your GPU is powerful enough to play a game at 4K and 45FPS. You don't want the quality loss of lowering your resolution and doing supersampling, but you'd still like those extra 15FPS. At 45FPS, fame interpolation shouldn't be too distracting since you're already 75% of the way there.

How is that greedy? You should try running a business and see how it works. Its called a selling point. There are a lot of kids on this forum that want stuff for nothing. I'm not defending them, they can irritate me also, but they have shareholders to please. They care about the shareholders, not us. If they can sell 10,000 units to miners, guess what? Now they love miners temporarily.

This feature will separate the 4xxx series a bit from the 2xxx, 3xxx's, as well as better performance. Sort of sucks for the 3xxx series.
