They can start with Unreal Tournament series.

Kinda hard to get excited about when you need a $1200 gpu to run run Quake II with acceptable performance.

There's a lot of games that would hold up today with modern textures and lighting. Even making their geometry significantly more detailed wouldn't take a ton of work for some.

Maybe for Quake 1 $600 will be enough to play. šŸ˜€

Please remake Gex and Return Fire.

When is next generation RTX due anyway? Iā€™d say second generation will be the time to jump into this tech. Even for cheaper second hand 2080Tis from rich upgraders.

No matter how good these games can look, ancient gameplay mechanics will ultimately let them down. Guns with zero recoil, NPCs with dated animation, speech, AI, etc. Simplistic, predictable objectives that we're all familiar with. All these ancient games will suck ballz by todays standards. Nostalgia will be their only appeal.

Half-life and Quake 3 RTX please!

If these are freebies, then great. If they're trying to make us re-purchase the same games again, fnck that.

This is the same argument I have for not going to the gym: why tamper with perfection?

Not free. Pretty sure future remastered games will not be free either. Quake II cost $5 on Steam unless you already have the game in your library.

Funny I still play some of those ancient games (e.g. ut2004) because the game play mechanics are better and not dumbed down to appease the masses. Not that I think they'll do ut2004, but there are some very popular old games with dedicated fan bases (e.g. various elder scrolls, various fallout, HL2, fear) that I can see loving an RT over-hall.

Well, looks like those RTX owners are going to have some RTX supported games to enjoy at last. šŸ˜›

This is ABSOLUTELY not true, I hate this kind of bias, I can play Quake 2 RTX at 1080p locked 60fps with an 2060 non super with Everything cracked up except GI to low or at medium with 90% scale resolution. If you have a 1080p 60hz why would you need more than that? Yes I can play with everything absolutely cranked up at 1440p over 60fps with a 2080ti, but that is the beauty of the PC SETTING to adapt any game to your need. And in the 2060 it still looks amazing. You can play ANY raytraced game at 1080p 60fps with a 2060 with everything ultra/high (no dlss), Metro, Control, quake, battlefield, shadow of the Tomb Raider.

I have to respectfully disagree with everything you just said.

Slap some overexposure and plastic shine on it, and call it a remake.

You can disagree all you want, I do test myself and Buy Hardware for this sole purpose and having a 2080ti and a 2060 I can say 100% I can play everything at 1080p 60fps here is just an example of a video I made: [youtube=ceviBuq2gZ0] Also here is my Control raytrace test with an 2080ti and the 2060 which by the way was before the patch that improved the situation a lot. [youtube=hM7euGfUXc8] The videos are in spanish of course, but you can just jump and see the numbers.

Remake PONG with RTX graphics... ... I'll let myself out.

so if they end up doing ray tracing for the Original Crysis and Crysis 2, i would upgrade to an RTX card in a heart beat.
