That's good, right? lol

It should have been either a 4070 or 4060 depending on its specs, benchmarks, and price. This is a remarkably smart thing for Nvidia to have done today to clear up a remarkably stupid decision made months ago.

I think this decision is ultimately bad for us. I would rather see them rename it to 4070/4070ti than cancel it. Now we ended up with 1200$ 4080 and 1600$ 4090 so 40 series are out of reach for most people.

ROFL 😀

A big middle finger to nvidia, let them know we are not stupid and COVID shenanigans are OVER. It should be 4060TI at top with a decent price, but that's depends on AMD.

Maybe price cutting is the next step. If people don't buy I would bet on that.

Probably some jebait moment because Nvidia knew something about upcoming rx7000 price/perf LOL

Project backfired... Not all customers are as dumb as they'd have thought.

YAY WE DID IT!

Now bring the 3090 and 3080 16GB MSRP down and we're in business. But they won't. They probably cancelled it so they wouldn't have to lower prices on the 3xxx series as that would've cannibalized sales. Or they've gotten wind of RDNA3 price/performance and think they aren't going to be competitive with that card. They'll probably re-release the card a couple of months down the stretch as some form of 3070 or 3060 for a (hopefully!) lower price as it should have been from the start. That said, I bet some of the remaining Nvidia board partners wish they'd have followed EVGA out of the door by now.

AIB must be sitting on a ton of 30x0 inventory chips so they cannot kill what is already in the market and wont even buy similar class 40x0 chips for a lower SRP to market. It is AMD's chance to take that market share if they can release something BETTER than 3090 yet lower price than 4090. If they can get close to 4090 RTRT for a better price they could kill Nvidia right now in the GPU space.

Dear Nvidia, we are now waiting for the explanation of an RTX 4070 for 'only' $899

the 4090 is so good compared to even the 4080 16 gb that calling the 12gb a 4080 was starting to sound silly to the leather jacket.

I'm assuming they're just going to rebadge it and relaunch it as a 4070, or keep it for a 4070Ti later.

Or they knew how bad the card was and how people would rip it appart in the reviews.

Yes, I read that the problem was two cards designated as "4080"....so renaming it to the 4070 seems logical and likely.

Now they gonna release the same chip and name it 4070 but have the same price which would suck even more than naming it a 4080. Or maybe just maybe they lower the price as well for this chip

lmao, I guess they saved themselves an even bigger embarrassment by doing this...
