very good move from AMD

Even happier that I didn't get the 4090 when having the chance now. If AMD can have decent ray tracing performance, I'll jump to them this gen. Let's be honest, most ray tracing is hardly noticeable expect in frames and doesn't do much. But I need my buzzwords!!!!

I'd never knock anybody for jumping onto the 4090 bandwagon, it would seem a crazy powerful card, but now the dust has settled its looking like that performance may come with some baggage. I can't wait to see if the 7900xt has a real impact regarding price, performance and availability.

Two starts at one and moves to the right from there. Also coil whine, more that two RMAing for that reason. But finally and far more importantly is negative exposure to the masses via the media and social media. It may currently be two, but that two is being reported and reported and reported.

1x 8pin OR 1x 6pin for the 7600XT and below 1x 8pin/ 1x 6pin for the 7700XT and below 2x 8pin for the 7800XT and below 3x 8pin for the 7900XT and above Done. Its a none issue, Nvidia made it an issue.

2 people isn't a lot but the 4090 isn't exactly the most popular GPU either and it's still pretty fresh, where those who intend to own one maybe haven't got one yet. In other words, 2 people is statistically not insignificant. Of those who do own a 4090, many are likely to attempt to overclock it. The fact of the matter is, unless the user just didn't snugly plug in the connector, these are not likely to be anomalies. I'm sure we'll hear more of these happening, and if we don't, it's probably because nobody is willing to push their GPUs to the point of being a fire hazard.

Good
Why is it good? It's still using the same number of pins and connectors, or more and enormous amounts of power.

It's good because no matter if it pulls 450W like a 4090, it won't turn into fireworks. The case that went viral on Reddit is not the only one that has happened in the wild at all. 12VHPWR is really misbegotten.

for me is very simple, if it is above 100°C it should be in the kitchen... if the plastic melts under that temp then it is really not suited for that use, 12VHPWR is nice to me, but well done, not melting itself

How do you know it's only two? It might be. Or maybe not. Too soon to tell.

How many melted 6+2 pin? Too many, and noone cares 😀 https://imgur.com/a/D9oEoXH#MAexSpa https://imgur.com/a/D9oEoXH#MAexSpa
Do you really believe everyone post their life on the internet? Personally i don't care much about those who do. The internet is what it is. 99% BS and 1% useful information. Which is why i asked how do you know? If you evaluate that based some pictures posted on reddit ... Let's wait and see if it's a problem well know for sure eventually.

3 x8pin + slot is 525W, if a card that goes above that just feck it.
Could go higher, since the 8-Pins are rated for 342W.

still say that to much power to go threw such cables. then it dont matter i will never buy gpu that pulls that much tdp anyway Tim allan on the other where say "more power"

We used Evga 780ti classified with Evbot. 2x8pin and drawing 650w+ 😀

Ofcourse not, but just goes to show that the 4090 could have easily been powered by 3x 8-Pin, but Nvidia insisted on saving PCB space. And it proves the math clearly doesn't add up. If a full sized 8-Pin can pull 300W (342 max) in the safe zone then it totally makes no sense 2x 6pin (12VHPWR) at 50% the size (smaller receptacles and thiner metal) can pull 600W. Less pins, smaller pins, more power... How this was approved is beyond anyones guess.
