They should refresh Polaris with more ROPs and shaders, not just 100MHz higher clocks.

They could be creating a lower-end chip, trying out some new hardware, without really changing the actual shaders.
So technically its still Polaris, but maybe with better memory compression algo's or stuff like that, not tied the base Arch ?

it makes sense, if 7nm is still fairly far away, moving to 12nm is an easy thing to do in the meantime to keep things moving

I think extra 15% from RX 580 could be very nice, If you check the RTX review and add 15% to RX 580 you would get FuryX/980TI performance and very close to GTX 1070.
So this card with Freesync high refresh 1080P monitor could be great Value bangle for Gamers.

If you add GDDR 6 to the formula and keep the 300 USD ASP, these cards will then dominate 1080p gaming, entry level market...
MK80
Again???? 😡

What the problem? RX 580 is a nice card paired with FreeSync monitor unlike NV's offering+ G-sync.

Since the performance ceiling hasn't shifted in any meaningful way and is not set to change very much for the foreseeable future, it makes perfect sense to refine Polaris a little and test out the 12nm process on it.
The 2000 series is going to remain too expensive for the performance, so it won't bump up what is expected for a given price target. The 1000 series will remain or be rebranded as 2060 and so on, but that means the price-jump will be transferred to that, so a 2060 will sit at a ~350$ price instead of the ~250$ price like the 1060/RX480 started out at.
The RX590/RX680 with either the full chip (like the one in Xbox One X) or a dieshrink with a bit of clockspeed boost, will sit comfortably in the 1080/1440p slot for the foreseeable future.

Nvidia releases RTX & AMD response is to rebadge polaris? scallywags
re badge that flop vega.
AMD has 2 platform for your revisions gpu laptop and apu that need 1080 asap not 1366x768 13 fps. stop cutting into the desktop platform with toaster upgrades for $1500. 1500 my car get like real turbo boost upgrades. $1500 nos kit easy add 500hp. yeah i get ticket and cant reg but shit aint no toaster.
This needs to be at vega 56 level period. 4500 3dmark points x 15% = 650 ish points not worth it buy a used 1070ti for $200 man it will get even cheaper and use less power. trash gpu see you guys 2020 when i still donnt care about what amd is calling new tech rebadged vegas instead of putting them in peoples houses 2017.
Stop cutting into the desktop platform with toaster upgrades trying to floating your intel & nvidia inferior product. all your gonna do is piss off your customer with a garbage product.

you got a bloated driver with rx 570 support this driver barely supports my card
PrMinisterGR
latest NVIDIA driver is more than half a gig in size.
The current AMD driver (which includes stuff as APU support), is 317MB.
WTF are you even talking about. The main architecture is the same, basically. What do you mean "bloated"? The pimpineasy
just flash it to "polaris"
dx12_1 support
