As a user of the OnePlus 3 and now owner of the OnePlus 3T, I have to say that OnePlus knows how to make a super phone for a very attractive price. The OP5 from my followings is a step better than the 3T in 3 main areas: CPU is octocore snapdragon 835 vs the quadcore 820 in the 3T, the OP5 features a dual camera, and the 128GB version features 8gb ram rather than 6 on the 3T. Personally, these changes are nice but beyond the CPU, there isn't a ton of reason to upgrade. That said, for a first foray into buying a OnePlus phone, for the price you get ALOT of phone for that $500 euro pricetag. The main gripes I have read are no SD slot, No waterproofing, and a screen that could have afforded to be better for a "flagship". Although I can see the screen affording to be better, the waterproofing is merely a nice to have (maybe I'm lucky but I've never come even close to spilling on my phone or damaging it in any liquid) and if space would be a problem, just get the 128GB which is a ton of space for most anyone. OnePlus also has an awesome community support on XDA with a ton of roms, kernels and application support to truly tune and customize the phone, and generally gets Android updates as quickly as devs can feature them. Using FreedomOS and Magisk w/ Franco Kernel, I can get up to 3 days standby and 7 hours SOT with my 3T. Another mention is the dash charge.. I love the charger. I recharge up to 75% battery in as little as 20 minutes. Also love the build quality.. its a very durable handset. Anyway, enough of my rambling 🙂

In both cases, the element symbol is Al, although Americans and Canadians spell and pronounce the name aluminum, while the British (and most of the rest of the world) use the spelling and pronunciation of aluminium. Maybe your keyboard is set to American English 😉

So when the 3 and 3T came out, they were again using the highest-end parts and cost around 340 euro (if I'm not mistaken), so this one is again using the highest-end parts but instead of 340 euro it costs 500. Ok So the 1+6 will probably cost as much as an S9, so let's hope 1+5 sells well before then disappear off the face of the market completely.

OP was mostly attractive because it provided very good hardware at reasonable price. 500 Euro is not a reasonable for this phone.

I'm using OnePlus One, and got 2 other friends on the same phone... But I liked it when they kept their phones simple: I don't need two cameras, dual-sim slots or 128GB of overkill storage. I just want the best APU, with one good camera and 64GB of storage. Everything else is overkill.

This. Was going to order one, but then I saw the absolutely horrid cameras and the lack of an SD slot and poor screen at a price nearly the same as a G6 and just slightly less than an S8, and I thought better than to do it.

i had the oneplus 2 and it had terrible problems. those got ironed out after a few updates, though, and the phone was pretty stable when i gave it to my bro

I literally cannot think of anything mobile that would need more than 4gb of ram. I mean you can play dirt 4 on a pc in 4k ultra with 8gb of ram...............

...Can't tell if this is a serious or a troll post... On topic the OnePlus 5 looks awesome and their track record is nothing to laugh at either. My only issue with it, is it kind of steers away from what OnePlus originally came into the game for...Flagship spec phone at a fair and normal price. It's still cheaper than say the S8, Pixel, or iPhone 7 but it's got some mainstream manufacturer tax added onto it.

1) also as i believe that very same XDA article said (or another article i read), they're FAR from the only manufacturer to use some method to cheat on benchmarks... so why intentionally make your phone seem WORSE to those who swear by benchmarks by NOT cheating on them? 2) Apparently you haven't. The Note 7 wasn't a pocket-bomb because of heat. It was due to them ignoring the general rule of leaving a cushion zone around the battery to allow for the usual expansion of the battery in various situations, be it charging, heat, etc... Essentially, the batteries exploded because they had no room to expand inside the casing of the phone. 3) Uuh... i think you're getting your facts mixed up. It IS 2x LOSSLESS zoom. That is how OnePlus themselves have been putting it the entire time. What they did NOT say (and what everyone seems to be claiming they have said and lied about) is that it's 2x OPTICAL zoom... which yea, it's not. They didn't lie about anything on that front. 4) Yes, QHD is pointless. No, FHD is not stupid, even on a Snapdragon 835. visual fidelity difference is basically unnoticeable on a 5.5" screen. What COULD be noticeable is a bit longer battery life due to not having to push so many pixels, as well as some ridiculous performance for the same reason. Which do you think would perform faster? A Galaxy S8 with the 835 and a QHD screen, or the OP 5 with the 835 and a FHD screen? Dunno about you, but i'd take a lower resolution with better performance over QHD any day. 5) It's hardly needed anymore.... 6) YES, WE GET IT! It looks like an iPhone! Are you talking about the PHYSICAL look of the cameras? Or the pictures they take? Physically, i think they look fine. It's a camera. The pictures? Pretty sure there have been side by side comparisons between the OP5 and other flagship phones, including the iPhone 7+, and generally it seems the OP5 comes out on top. SD slot is hardly needed anymore when 64GB of on-board storage is the norm for basically EVERY phone, plus with all the online data backup options we have nowadays. Need extra storage? There's always USB OTG drives. As i said above... i'd take better performance over an indiscernible 5.5" screen resolution bump any day. Cost? Well... if you consider the Galaxy S8 (Not the +) costs about $100 more (which is only due to them now providing a discount to buy one unlocked) than the Midnight Black OnePlus 5, has half the on-board storage, half the RAM, and a slightly smaller battery, while they both have a lot of the same tech, right down a lot of their camera stuff, like multi-frame image processing.... then yea, i guess you could say it costs "Slightly less"....

I don't know which reviews you've been reading, but the main camera has been best described as drawing watercolor paintings, and zoom camera as a terrific noise filter over an image. There hasn't been a single review with something good to say.

In certain lighting conditions, the OnePlus 5 camera can go nuts with its image processing, making photos look like watercolors or pencil sketches at full crop. If you're posting tiny squares to Instagram or Facebook, this probably won't matter much, but if you like to crop photos, it can become a problem. The photos taken with the OnePlus 5's primary camera are rich in fine detail - it's using its 16MP to the fullest. Noise can be spotted even at base ISO Unfortunately, not all of this holds true for the telephoto camera. Fine detail is far from what you'd expect from a 20MP sensor. We experimented and cropped a photo from the main camera to match the FOV of the telephoto one (so we were basically working with a 4MP image). It's just not what it used to be. 500 Euro for a phone with FHD screen, no SDcard slot, shoddy camera and no waterproofing... It's just not a good deal, when you have the likes of LG G6 around for about the same price and all the bells and whistles of true flagship, aside from AP, which is still fine. If it would be 399 Euro, I'd be singing a different tune, but 500 is just pushing it for somewhat mediocre package aside from AP.

You could probably pick up an older phone for much less, and wouldn't be sacrificing much specs wise, and probably even gaining more than you lost.
