Hmm I saw this router a year ago and is it just because 802.11ac is now a standard that this product can be considered new to market? None the less, It does well at long range but D-link and Buffalo AC routers seem to have better overall throughput at any distance.

I've had the R6300 for about a year. I know a new model is coming out (the R7000 if I remember right). Not sure what this article is saying at this point. The R7000 has three antennae to improve range. My R6300 looks just like the picture in this article. It works great so far.

Guys, this is V2 of the router, with improvements like the cpu is now 800Mhz Dual core instead of 600hz Single core, among other features.

Aha...well then, perhaps it should be noted in the article. Clearly it's not giving the right impression as it is. Finding the "v2" in the details is not exactly salient information. No biggie but that's my opinion.

How comes that I own this puppy since November of 2012? So new it couldn't be then! But let me assure you that this router is worth it's money as I am on a 150/10 line and can drag with full speed! the AC bandwidth is outrageous. Copying between two AC devices yielded approx 80 MB/s (which requires SSDs to perform this speed!) Even at a distance of 25m LoS with one wall in between still gave me 20% signal strength and about 8 Mbit/s bandwidth. At home I have 60 to 100% signal strength and 433 to 867 Mbit/s depending on how many walls cross the LoS to the router! In Switzerland you have to fork over 180 CHF for the router and another 80 CHF for the A6200 adapter (in case your notebook does not have a built-in ac-capable WLAN card!)
