No consumer router is worth $499.99 ...

Looks like that all that price premium went to the design team.. 😀
Fun fact:
Price premium definition
The marketing practice of selling an elite product at a cost level above that of its competition in order to make it appeal to more exclusive and wealthy consumers.
A business producing a high end good or service might add a price premium to its advertised cost in order to attract more affluent customers
that can afford to pay more for what they think will be a higher quality item.
I think the above sums it quite well. No hard feelings tho NETGEAR! :P

As Hilbert stated not worth 499.99, the most id pay for a router is $150 max! You can build a whole new system with what they charge for the router alone. I guess its good for the lucky few who can afford it.Fun reading about the things I cant have, just makes my day all that better.lol

There's a wireless-ad now? I'm behind the times with my wireless-n!
The plex thing is weird though.

I spent $399 on an Orbi, and couldn't be happier. It solved a long standing issue of whole house wifi for me. In rooms where I couldn't even get a signal using a stand alone router I now get 175Mbps on my iphone and my wife gets 250Mbps on her S7. If you do not have the option to run wire to access points, I'd say that is worth $399.
I also spent the extra couple hundred for a 8 port switch and a edgerouter lite though. So all in, I would say $600 for reliable router and wireless access.
