Things are getting interesting in midrange market. Btw yes, there is a mistake HH. It should be 1660ti.

1060ti typo.... Whoops It will be nice to see 1060 vs 1660 non-ti same shader count same memory sizes performance increase purely down to new technologies

Maybe it's 1070SE šŸ™‚

Ah, that naming is just a mindfrack.

Indeed. No wonder one makes a mistake.

Decisions, decisions..... GTX1060 6G, GTX1660Ti or RTX2060.... Need to replace this fickle RX470 soon...

GTX 1060 6G - comparable to RX 580. GTX 1660 6G - apparently comes out later next month, I'm speculating for it to be comparable to the RX 590, maybe slightly weaker. GTX 1660 Ti - I'm speculating for it to be comparable to the GTX 1070, maybe slightly weaker. RTX 2060 - comparable to the GTX 1070 Ti. The first 2 (1060 and 1660), I don't think they're worth upgrading from a RX 470, but the 1660 Ti (if it ends up where I speculate it to be) or the RTX 2060 could be nice options if you play at 1080p (6GB of VRAM could be an issue if you play at higher resolutions though). From AMD's side, there's the Vega 56, but I find it to be just way too power hungry in comparison.

1660 should only be only sliglty faster than 1060 and 1660ti is fast as 1070 with 2GB vram less. Does this cards even sound appealing to you? Get a 2070, it will last longer than all these 6gb cards.

for rumored 280$(realistically 300$+) I don't expect a huge value of this one. hopefully it would turn out to be a good card.

I only play at 1080. I can pickup a GTX1060 6GB, which is 15-20% faster than the RX470, for about $200USD. So not a bad price at all for the performance difference. The GTX1660Ti is more appealing though.

As I play older games, the 2070 makes no sense. The newest game I have is BF1, which I haven't played in months. I could easily get by on a GTX1060 6GB. In fact, I could easily get by on my GTX970 if I cared to reinstall it. I just prefer something faster, not slower....

All i have is https://media.tenor.co/images/5a6f5c28809bc92e2ae52981d01ae395/raw I cant believe Nvidia is really doing this arnt they confusing consumers enough with all the sku and now different naming scheme for same gen Again 4 sku Entry,Mid,High, Take my Money I have to much. More money generated in the long run and much less confusion

Actually, they make more money by selling the additional SKUs. The additional SKUs are comprised of otherwise faulty GPU dies. They likely pay for those GPU dies, whether they meet specs or not. If they're paying for a die that doesn't meet spec for the intended product, they are losing money by not creating a SKU to make use of those otherwise faulty dies.

none the less to many sku's

More SKUs or more price.... NVidia has to make up the losses somewhere....

People are finding confusing the new names Nvidia is giving they cards, but truly it's a genius move. The old architecture is retired now and they can focus on Turing for their entire range of vgas. Also, it means they can use the otherwise faulty chips with problems on the ray tracing parts. If the pricing is right, I believe 1660ti will be a huge success, much like the 560ti was back then. Probably it'll have close to 1700ti performance and a better price tag and less heat and power consumption. Can't wait to see some benchmarks of these little babies!

Nvidia has no losses.

As a 970 GTX owner one of these at Ā£300 with 1080 performance will be my next upgrade... i can wish. Maybe nvidia has had such a rough ride on the stockmarket since last October they may want to get all touchy feely again for us old timers who first bought them rather than 3dfx ??? :)

1660 v 1660ti with GDDR 5 v 6 will be interesting.
