So with this card I think AMD just cannibalized their own 480. When overclocked it's faster than the 480 and OC v OC would be very close. All while using less power. This is the AMD card to get right here folks.

Beats the 970, looks like Nvidia will have to cut the 970 prices to $200 or less. Guess its time for me to upgrade soon.

Its on pair with 970 for 170$, thats not bad at all. I dont see point of 8GB tho, 4GB is enough for 470 meaning its suited for 1080p only. Vulcan tests is also interesting where it beats even 1060 which 100$ more.

Some games are becoming VRAM hogs even at 1920x1080. Its a great price, but I don't see Nvidia cutting 970 prices as that card is EOL. Now retailers may cut prices to move stock. I have to say there is no way I would suggest the 480 over the 470. It's like 670 v 680.

Depends on the region pricing and availability. Does not mean 470 will cannibalize anything. Its a great little card for that price.

There must be something really broken in Tomb Raider (game or driver side) a 390x gets more fps than a fury x in 1080p

Funny how MSI and other AIB partners use the same cooler and most of the cards of one generation. The TwinFrozr VI is awesome, and makes even lower end cards look good in an open window case. Too bad they don't do Lightnings anymore, those always stood out. PS - glad I sold my 970s when I did, I would be ****ed with the 480 and now 470 being such great bang/buck cards. :O

Really? http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?ct=articles&action=file&id=24495&admin=0a8fcaad6b03da6a6895d1ada2e171002a287bc1 http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?ct=articles&action=file&id=24285 When overclocked it's faster than the 480 and on par with a factory overclocked 480. I like this card. If crossfire wasn't a mess two of these for $340 is a deal.

Why does the 4gb 470 Red Devil version outperform the 8gb msi version?

Even better msrp for the 4gb version is 149$

This is a mighty attractive option for 1080p, esp the 4GB model at $200 (this MSI model, not the reference one). This actually overclocks nicely and has a great cooler to boot. 🤓

This is the card that should of been released in 1st place. 480 and 490 had to be new arch

But it's all new architecture?

I mean upcoming Vega10

Still not sure what you mean. Between Vega 10 & 11 you've got potentially 4 new cards to look forward to, Vega 10 is, I guess, aimed at the 1080 with the rejected chips powering 1070 competitors.

I have to wonder if they wouldn't have been better suited releasing this first. It does seem like practically everywhere is out of stock on a most of the new cards. I don't know if it's an availability issue or if the new gen of cards from green/red are just flying off the shelves. Myself, I'm waiting it out for a 1080ti or the 1180.

Depends on who you ask. AMD subreddit says RX480 is out of stock because it's selling so well, 1080 is out of stock because no supply. Nvidia subreddit says they are both out of stock because no supply. I see tons of people with both cards. Maybe they both are just selling well.

All the new cards are selling well. Beyond what both can provide...

Same price as the 480 here in the UK, no wonder they are finished.

prices are very strange here in germany the msi gaming x 8g is 10 € cheaper than the 4 g and 90 euro cheaper than the 8g 480. that's 30% cheaper for 10% less performance...
Well thats good, right? I mean this card put a very impressive performance for its specs and its price. Idk why people act so negative with every card AMD releases.
