Same thing than with original expensive DDR4 vs superfast DDR3 that were less expensive... Until DDR5 reach near DDR4 price, DDR4 is a good solution.

Hilbert, are you planning on reviewing some X670/B650 MBs? I`m thinking about an AMD build and it would be nice to read some MBs reviews.

I would feel silly spending nearly $400 for a board just to stuff it with DDR4. At that price I would just budget the cost of DDR5 is I was in the market for a board of that caliber.

Absolutely, yes.

I have been usng the Asus Strix Z690 D4 motherboard and reusing my DDR4 3600 ram so saved a fair bit and the performance on my 13700K has been great. Will eventually move to DDR5 but at the moment rarther than ditching the ram, I have saved some money which went towards a better GPU and optimised the RAM to CL16 DDR4 3600 running at Gear 1 so all good.

I think using ddr4 would be alot more close to ddr5, if we had a review with using gear 1 at 3866-4000 with really tight timings, get that latency down to low 40s or even high 30's. Im pretty sure it would be way closer to DDr5 performance then. But it would require alot of work brining down your secondary timings and your tertiary timings. But if you willing to do the work you will be close.

So much this. If it was a sub $200 board, DDR4 would be fine.

1) the mobo itself, without any commentary on price or DDR4/5 is stunningly beautiful. i can even forgive the pseudo-scientific gibberish lettering 2) as many have noticed this gen for both AMD and Intel, the mobos have become overbuilt for their class 3) the only compelling Raptor Lake cpu to me is the I-5 13600k(f) so this mobo is far more than that would need
