So vurtually the same performance as a vanilla 4080 but for a bit more coin.

Thee are still more than 90 4080's in my local Microcenter. LMFAO. Astronomically over priced. I'd consider one for 800-900.

My 2100 Zotac 4090 is starting to look like good value, not that I care.

The 4080 costs more than what I payed for my 3080Ti at the height of the crypto craze... I actually thought those insane times to be exceptional, looks like I was wrong.

Nice a giant increase in price, and in some games you go from 50ish fps to 70ish fps (3080-4080) on 4k, and that should make me wanna shell out 1500-2000 bucks? Don't think so, whoever buy's these cards enables these huge price jumps...

I expect them to drop the price to $1000 and call it a good deal. I'd never consider an x80 card over $7-800, but that's just me I'm sure. Rumor has it Nvidia will be charging around $7-800 for the 70 class cards. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 4060 that performs like a 3070 for the price of a 3080.

Here also in stores for around 1800$ - 2000$ depending on manufacturer - nobody seems to buy - the quantity didn't changed for three days except for Gainward cards that are the cheapest. At these prices 4090 is the only card worth buying IF you have the money and patience to hunt one at a convenient price. Maybe it is the same as AMD with their Ryzen CPU's (people expecting the 3D cache versions) and people are expecting the 4080Ti announcement around the time when AMD 7XXX will hit the stores and finally have some reviews Then 4080 will have a price cut - maybe...
The 4080 is a strange card - doesn't seems to give any kind of trade off: it uses the same bulky cooling as 4090 so you need the same space - you can't say that you want one because you can't fit a 4090 in your case, it has the same power adapter -you can't say that you buy this instead of the 4090 because you don't want the problems that appeared with the adapter for the 4090, the price in stores is the same as 4090FE, so what else is there?

My Gaming X Trio:
Stock core, max TDP (370W), Vram 25Gbps.

Here it costs 4x the price of GTX 970 when it released. Kind of totally ridiculous, considering its just one step up in the hierarchy. Glad I grabbbed 2nd hand 3080 Vision OC for 1/3 of the price of 4080, when everybody was selling the old cards getting ready for new gen. I knew this will happen, now those ppl are stuck, can only buy 4090 for a price of used car or wait. 4080 makes no sense. It also created a great contact for me, as the seller was a editor of a HW magazine, so he has a lot of such HW in really good shape. He invited me in his house, where I could choose from three 3080s and test em on his open bench test LOL 🙂

Jesus Christus, why wouldn't you just buy the 4090 if you're gonna get one, more shaders/cores for the money! Horrendously priced product the 4080, not to mention the 4090 is already badly priced......but the 4080, leave it alone!

On available cards on shop; 4080 has 2/3 Vram, 2/3 price and 2/3 performance versus 4090.
Also one time payment, haven't extra +800 euros for 4090. I will go 4080 at least next couple years now..
CP2077 RT Ultra 4K DLSS Perf. ~100fps is nice.

I don't understand why some people pay hundreds more for the same chip of a certain AIB, just cuz its ASUS or w/e ' premium ' brand.
Back in the day the AIBS actually made a difference with clockspeed differences that were huge in some cases, seeing 10-20-30% differences in real world performance.
Nowadays people pay hundreds more for a strix because 2% more performance.
