and I guess cancelled pre-orders mean the customers lose their "place" in the waiting list ?
I also suppose the price will go up at the same time ? it's the latest trend end a product line that never really existed and release "new models" costing +200-300$
the "latest" EKWB 3090 is exactly that,card already existed for <2000USD and now it's re-relased except it's 2400USD (still a 2 connector card tough)

asus and msi did announce that they would have rised price of videocards some weeks ago.
This is the only way to do it for stock already booked but not produced.

Countries have laws which say that shop must deliver goods for which they enabler orders. Here it means they'll have to deliver even if it costs shop more than what people paid.
Shops can't cancel your order. Exception is discontinued product.
My humble guess is that "Z" will come with higher price tag.

My 3090 strix oc, which i preordered at launch, seems like a bargin by now. Paid 13600 dkk - now they cost 20000 dkk ! And the 3080 cost nearly as much as i paid for my 3090 !
But that really is the lesson to be learned, and what i always do - preorder right away at launch.

Imagine you preordered the card when it was launched, have waited for it for months, and now the shop will tell you that you are off the queue because of this. "Helpfully" the store might offer to place you in a new queue for the exact same card, only with a single letter in the name changed, if you pay them extra 400 euros.
I suppose the current situation has made the video card makers feel so strong that scumbag moves like this are nothing.

I get that they want to nip this one in the bud but creaking a new SKU and in effect cancel pre-orders is a bad look. They should allow buyers to retain their pre-order and just switch to the new SKU.

I`m one of those ppl who had their order cancelled by Alternate. I can tell you i am furious. Feel totally stabbed in the back after ordering hour 1 & waiting 7 months.

Honestly, this market is just screwed.
Happy that I managed to grab a 3070 a few weeks after launch on OCUK and a PS5.
Won't have to deal with these issues for a long time, fingers crossed.
