Since when nvidia have issue with selling same chips under different name!? It is not like they don't like selling different, always weaker, chips with a same name either...

Think of it like insulting your younger sibling - you might call him/her a stupid whiny brat, but when someone else says that, suddenly you "disagree". Nvidia: Ah, seems people aren't really into the Super suffix for the 20 series, I guess I won't use it anymore. MSI: Hmm, I think my 3060 Ti is pretty super - I'll call it that! Nvidia: NO! THAT'S MY NAME! MSI: b-but you gave up using it! Nobody likes it and you know it! (wait so why am I using it?) Nvidia: I USED IT FIRST, FINDERS KEEPERS!

It has nothing to do with Nvidia themselves, read the article. It may impact other partners, as people may think MSI is selling a 3060 Ti SUPER, which isn't even a thing.

Honestly i have no issue with this. MSI was kind of dumb to put super in their naming given. It'd be no different then someone releasing a RTX 4090 as a "MSI RTX 4090 TI 3X" And then claiming "well yeah its not a Ti, its TI"

Just because they know they'd get sued because of false marketing or something like that.

Yea, MSI was stupid, why call the card Super if you can call it Ultra!!!:D

This just shows nvidia will introduce another series of super cards in the future.

I can see the confusion it would cause. Hey man, check out my new 3060 TI Super!...it's faster than your regular old 3060TI... No it ain't! Yes it is! ain't!, is, ain't! is!....Grrrrrr! :D

With GPU cycles getting longer, 2/3 years, i can see the Super being used in every generation from now on. The same with AMD, but instead of using a name they just use the 50 to differentiate their refreshed versions.

problem is it is trademark infringement. its not so much that "its nvidia's word", but customers could very well be confused on what they are actually buying, since customers associate "super" with being a better nvidia variant, but this is just a "regular" 3060 ti

Geforce and Super are indeed trademarked to nvidia when used together in any combination.

Nvidia clears confusion - amd fanboys complain anyway. They used Super before an a sort of a weaker Ti, so 3060Ti Super will confuse people to hell (unlike zen2 ryzen 7000 cpus apparently)

MSI RTX 4090 VERY NAU-TI BOY

Would they be allowed to call it the "SPR 3X" ?

I don't think anyone here is complaining about Nvidia clearing confusion. Anyone who has any semblance of reason would know that Nvidia has a valid incentive to tell MSI to change the product name. Also... find me a diehard AMD fan who thinks a Ryzen 7000 Zen2 makes sense. Not just someone who pulls whataboutism, but someone who actually justifies it regardless of precedents.

Nvidia forgot about Palit Super JetStream.
