Wondering if they're going to stick with the new download patch by patch approach or provide a proper downloadable iso per service pack. Not that it would break win9, its just that it'll make it very win8'ish if they do.

I have the feeling this Operating System will rock. Microsoft really tried to make it better for everyone. Can't wait to try it myself.

I wonder if it's gonna be worth the upgrade over 8.1 pro , i doubt games will perform any better until the inevitable "DX12 only on Win9" news come by.

Perhaps they'll offer a sweet upgrade deal as it was the case with 7 to 8 transition. There's also a problem with making software for the new Windows versions. There are a lot of cool new features, but first developers have to learn to use them, and then there needs to be some target audience. So long XP support period is hurting new Windows versions, as many businesses have just switched from XP to 7 and they're not going to switch to another Windows version too soon no matter how good it may be. Effectively it makes learning new post-Windows-7 features a little bit less appealing. Personally, I always go with the latest version and I had to revert only once. It was the unfortunate Vista release, so I switched back to 2003, and then to Vista once it got proper drivers and SP1. One feature, for which you might want Windows 9 would be a possibility of running WinRT (aka Metro) apps in window if they manage to add that on time. It may not sound big at first, but it makes writing good apps much easier. They can look really good, at the same time run fast and have minimal impact on the system when idling. They didn't get much audience because of being limited to full screen / side bar only. With windowed mode it may change, especially as they don't have to be touch-oriented, and can be focused mostly on keyboard/mouse users. So it should be good for laptop users because of improved battery life, and gamers, as the apps would have less impact on games.

I did have high hopes for Win 9 until I saw the screenshots and videos of an even more hacked to death 8.1 with a start menu a 5 year old would be proud of

With all the bitching and whining about Win8.x....I really had no hope for Win9 at all. All that's left for me, is WP9....and hopefully MS won't disappoint me with that.

WP9 Dev Preview (a.k.a RTM) is supposedly coming in January, WP8.1 Update 2 coming October from what I've read too
