I want 1 of these monitors in the near future if price is right, you guys think 2 gtx 670 would drive one of these ok?

Yes and no ... If you want to use AA, it's not gonna be enough. 3840x2160 = 4x FullHD. However, with the resolution so high, AA could be considered obsolete. If you would disable AA, then you might pull it off.

Looking at that desktop screenshot, that resolution looks like too much. I bet it's sweet for gaming though. What setup are you running into that screen? I can't think of a rig that will run 4k smooth enough in a year's time.

Not anytime soon. Majority of games will run ok but a lot of c titles will run like a dog atm.

There really is no point in having a 4K TV right now because there is no 4K material to view. I got to demo a 65 inch Samsung F9000 a few months ago and what I saw blew me away. I was ready to take it home until I saw what the current blu-rays and hi-def channels looked like on it. If no 4K material is being viewed, the TV automatically reverts to source material. So i'm like why the F am I going to spend $7K on a TV that I can't watch properly. Maybe in 5 years or so the 4K thing will finally take off.

I can only imagine waiting long years for graphic cards able to run games on it properly. I bought few years ago now 2560x1600 monitor and honestly it looks great but still struggling with newer games. I can lower the settings in the game but that defeats the purpose of buying it at all. I wouldn't bother with 4k untill it is properly settled down and becomes a standard until then it is just going to be a huge pain in the bu...t

Until the day i can grab a 4k monitor for 300€ and a capable gpu to handle 4k gaming for 300€, until then...well, i´m not jumping in. But it sure is sweet 🤓 i´d make sweet love to one of these.

Yeah, it's normal because UHD is very heavy. You aren't worried but you may get 120Hz at 2560x1600. 🙂

Don't forget the fine print on the paper you signed with ASUS, stating that after testing you have to forward this monitor to "Chillin" for an extended evaluation period.

Why? It's a great monitor for all-around stuff as long as you have $$$. Fallback to FullHD is natural, as you get screen 2x2 pixel square for each FullHD pixel, so there is no blurring. This means you can try playing games at 4k, and if your rig struggles, you end up with 31 FullHD display.

Not gonna happen anytime soon. I had to pay quite a bit more for 27" 2560x1440, and 30" 2560x1600 are even more expensive. However I do expect 4k prices to drop in some future below current 30" prices, as 4k is becoming a standard. You can get 4k movies, 4k cameras, even 4k-recording phones have been announced. This should lead to high availability and price drop, just as with FullHD TVs. I think you can expect the prices to drop to around 900€ for monitor and 400-500€ for graphics to drive them. But waiting for that would be a hope-based strategy. I'd rather just forget about it, do the usual stuff, and perhaps check the prices during some future upgrade or find some ways to get more $$$.

I remember just a few years back and running at 1600x1200 was only possible on the most powerful of hardware at the time. Now we scoff at that and can use a single graphics card for 2560x1440. The availability of 4k monitors will again push the graphics industry to another boon until the next paradigm shift.
