Looking at that desktop screenshot, that resolution looks like too much. I bet it's sweet for gaming though. What setup are you running into that screen? I can't think of a rig that will run 4k smooth enough in a year's time.

Two titans struggle to reach playable framerate on these monitors with newer titles.
Just sayin.

Not a screen for gaming then

There really is no point in having a 4K TV right now because there is no 4K material to view. I got to demo a 65 inch Samsung F9000 a few months ago and what I saw blew me away. I was ready to take it home until I saw what the current blu-rays and hi-def channels looked like on it. If no 4K material is being viewed, the TV automatically reverts to source material. So i'm like why the F am I going to spend $7K on a TV that I can't watch properly. Maybe in 5 years or so the 4K thing will finally take off.

I can only imagine waiting long years for graphic cards able to run games on it properly. I bought few years ago now 2560x1600 monitor and honestly it looks great but still struggling with newer games. I can lower the settings in the game but that defeats the purpose of buying it at all. I wouldn't bother with 4k untill it is properly settled down and becomes a standard until then it is just going to be a huge pain in the bu...t

Until the day i can grab a 4k monitor for 300€ and a capable gpu to handle 4k gaming for 300€, until then...well, i´m not jumping in. But it sure is sweet 🤓 i´d make sweet love to one of these.

Chillin
Don't forget the fine print on the paper you signed with ASUS, stating that after testing you have to forward this monitor to "Chillin" for an extended evaluation period.

I remember just a few years back and running at 1600x1200 was only possible on the most powerful of hardware at the time. Now we scoff at that and can use a single graphics card for 2560x1440. The availability of 4k monitors will again push the graphics industry to another boon until the next paradigm shift.
