"The exhibits included a 27-inch Ultra HD 144Hz high refresh rate gaming monitor panel" Over what cable/interface ? :P

Will have to be HDMI 2.1 for it to work without resorting to chroma subsampling above 98hz.

This means they need a good video processor to control the LEDs individually and only Sony does that very good on their high-end TVs. For example Samsung on Q9FN, it clips details near black so the screen appears blacker than it should, waste of FALD, is not actually controlling individual zones, if Samsung can't do it on a $4000 TV with 480 zones, why a monitor could do it with thousands of zones?

Who are they marketing a 4k 144hz 27" monitor to? And who buys this, especially with no current cable able to run those specs?

I would expect it to be handled via MST then. 2 cables, each handling 1/2 of screen.

I did not know using two cables was possible. Thank you. Still, 4k@27" is a bit overkill IMHO.

There are definitely diminishing returns at that scale but you have to remember that the human eye can see a misalignment between two lines up to 1800 PPD. By comparison a 4K 27" display being viewed 3' away is only 106 PPD.

Why would you need two cables? A small processor could pass the brightness level on to a secondary chip that controls the location and brightness of the minileds or duplicate the signal if needed. Two cables would be to cumbersome and complicated.

As mentioned by Rx4speed, current standard ends at 4k@120Hz, not 144Hz. Dual cable solutions were here long time ago. You simply enable it in monitor and it merges Left and Right part each from different Cable. In PC, you simply set desktop as 2 screens next to each other. Nothing complicated. Primitively simple.

What a joke. I rather would have individual led control (sony) or even fald RIGHT NOW, rather than mini led down the road.. Since sony has the 43in xbr, might just get that, rather than a moni this time..

Soooo, are these good or not? Will these have anything close to OLED pixel response for example?

The tv? So far any content i played on the Z9D, matched the oleds (65A1E/A8F) for black levels. But they dont make anything smaller than 65 for the Z9D. The 49 is at least Fald, so big improvement over any monitor . But i found a couple of 43 lg/viewsonic monis i want to check out first, as they run about half of what the 49X900F costs.
