So...... The "Start Menu" will be a "Feature" for Windows 9.

"Microsoft's original plan was to make this update a much bigger and more important release."
All these amazing things, makes we wonder if all of this work being done is being done by a few Chinese students working for $1.20/hr. Its just such terrific stuff wait for a menu lel.

Meh, I don't really care about bringing the start menu back. I'm still ok with the current start screen and I don't understand the level of hate people have for it. I understand how it might not suit someone's preferences (if I were an active Windows user I wouldn't prefer it) but it doesn't deserve hate.

I have seen metro like 3 times since my w8.1 goes directly to desktop with classical start menu.
I can complain about dozens of other things like numlock being off at login screen which one has to get working via registry.
Or that annoying/creepy: "We are setting things up for you."

"...There are rumors Microsoft is planning to offer Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 users some kind of deal — possibly even a free upgrade to Windows 9 — in order to get them to move to the latest Windows version once it's out next year."
Here is hoping these rumors come to fruition. Free; not likely. Another offer of $40 to upgrade would be cool.

I've just got MSDN Update 3 for VS 2013, but there's no sign of Update 2 for Windows 8.1, and I got Update 1 before public availability.

Quote Brandon LeBlanc from the following post: http://blogs.windows.com/bloggingwindows/2014/08/05/august-updates-for-windows-8-1-and-windows-server-2012-r2/
So no Start Menu and no Update 2, looks like they are trying to kill off Windows 8.1 now and push everyone onto Windows 9.

Dunno why people are so bothered about what is arriving in update X
The OS you like, be it XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, they all still work
You don't like a certain OS, or a certain update, don't use it, simplez
Quit whinging

I´m sorry what the heck means "putting all the wood behind the [Windows 9] arrow"? It sounds like something one would say before sex.

They are putting all their eggs in one basket. Looks like they are going all in...with Windows 9.
