I used IE since the 56K dial-up days until 2016. When i moved to Windows 10 i started using Chrome, which i used until 2019, since then i use Edge Chromium.

I guess Edge will be the Animated Gif player then...

IE should have been automatically uninstalled by now from one of the update packs. Never used it myself. Edge(chromuim) is a step in the right direction.

Internet Explorer is a pretty usual name when you think about it - it's exactly what it is. Firefox and Chrome just sounds more fancy. Safari pretends its on Safari somewhere in South-Africa. Opera is doing a on-stage performance. Brave is being a nice lion.

It literally just popped into my head "and to think how many companies this will affect that still - past extended eol - still aren't ready" lol well they will be.... edit #1: the only downside to that being it will break more *not Microsoft's fault* but when it does get dropped because of lazy department heads and bad project leads, project managers, etc regional etc budget cuts or whatever your companies' specific reason what this will do places you in a bind with compliance #1 for those of you relying on anything security update related regarding exploits or of that nature (HealthCare organizations, Federal contractors, the Government lol) basically when you have to comply... when you need an IT HIPAA compliant system or others that strictly house PII, etc Those old web-based services are dependent on whatever old janky stuff like active-x that need IE to run but have all the aforementioned to consider ... yeah ... it better to just migrate it all out now. Hire DBMS specialists now while it's still compliant far as the FBI security policies go for IT standards and such ( I can't recall them offhand ) but there are requirements (this is is your gov) private sector probably will use shortcuts but still when I worked for the Dept of Vet Affairs (its safe not about to disclose IP) there was so much crap just like this. It was disheartening frankly and I left in less than 3 weeks of starting that job. Yeah... things shouldn't be browser-based. (After like 15 or more jobs in tech most of them contracting.) I have seen a lot and many companies oddly enough at some point or another have at least 1 critical system that uses IE essentially as a dependency service in a sense, without one they wouldn't have the other. Edge Enterprise has some options to remedy this (compatibility layers based on VM tech I think & it runs on the fly but I would need to read up it more) Far as Edge the new one it supposedly can run legacy IE stuff in the browser

A lot of companies that offer web services got at least one machine with IE, even Google, since they need to be sure that the product works, at least they didn't need to support Netscape over the last few decades. While we are in on old outdated software, there are even some places where they still got computers with XP and older running, since moving to a new OS and software will cost a small fortune and most probably require a replacement of equipment used together with it as well, like special machinery used in agriculture, hospitals etc.

Well good bye edge you will not be missed . Even as a corpse will give ITs major migraines and nightmares!
