Is that part of the Update 2 patch?

windows 8.1 is fine as it is. Nothing I would add to it tbh. Some minor tweaks here and there.

I wouldn't get your hopes up for the supposed Update 2, It contains hardly anything. http://blogs.windows.com/bloggingwindows/2014/08/05/august-updates-for-windows-8-1-and-windows-server-2012-r2/ It looks like they have given up on Windows 8.
We have gotten more feature updates in Win 8 than any previous Windows version. Usually MS releases an OS and it is bug fixes from then on out. The fact that we have gotten major UI changes in 8 means MS is very committed to making improvements. Even if U2 never comes, MS has already gone way above what I would have expected.

Did you even read the article you linked? "With the above in mind, rather than waiting for months and bundling together a bunch of improvements into a larger update as we did for the Windows 8.1 Update, customers can expect that we’ll use our already existing monthly update process to deliver more frequent improvements along with the security updates normally provided as part of “Update Tuesday.”" That clearly means that they are breaking up the features intended for Windows 8.1 Update 2 and rolling them out over a period of time rather then all at once. No where in that article does it suggest that the features aren't coming.

The problem is that you can not get a service pack iso anymore, there are cheating ways to get it but they don't work if you have the oem. This amongst the forcing of metro on desktop users has been the 2 biggest mistakes of windows 8. Some people can't even update to 8.1 because of wireless modem issues which could have been bypassed if you didn't have to download every single patch 1 by 1. I don't mind windows 8.1 now that it works [for me]but Microsoft have to stop wanking off over everything being online and downloadable. Windows 8.1 boots real fast on an SSD, its the most responsive OS Microsoft have made. Its the best OS Microsoft have made to date, people have to get used Microsofts new update and replace timetable. There's no more infinite service packs and endless support like the XP days. I accept that now but I don't think a lot of others have yet. You'll get your windows 9, and it will be as good as 8 because it will be 8 under the hood and I can tell you now that everyone will like it because I've been using it (enjoying it) for years already. 😀

speaking of service packs. windows 7 really needs a service pack 2. so many updates. also all these updates for windows 8.1... same thing. they need to make iso so because. no everyone has a 24/7 internet connection. say you need to do a clean install. so you install 8.1 but then for some random reason your internet connection goes down. or you have a slow connection. or a connection that can get capped. kinda hard to download updates if your data is capped. and have to wait a month to download the updates. they need service packs. they just dont see the whole picture.

there is a iso called updates roundup or something like that

they should release updates in the early in morning. maybe between 1am-6am. business do server maintenance around that time anyways. I always have to wait the next day Wednesday to download the updates because it comes in the afternoon on tuesday and Im sleeping and then going to work.

Just got the updates and rebooted. Norton 360 is fine, not reporting a false positive from any of the updates.

Windowed RT apps? If MS wants to make RT apps the focus (and it looks like it's the case as Live apps and WMP did not have a real refresh for a while now) we need to be able to run them in a borderless resizable window.

Don't get me started on that. I installed a fresh copy of windows 7 on a friend's PC this spring. The machine has an ssd and the connection is 25mpbs. Took me around 3 hours to fully update it. PC had to restart 5+ times to complete the whole process.

It might be me, but the Fonts on "some" sites look different with IE11 after the Updates.
