Jeez MS will throw anything out there just to try and force you to go to the dark side of Win 10..:p

Why? Windows 10 is not affected.

They actually even released an update against this for XP, which is long out of support. If they wanted to use such things to force people to switch, patching doesn't seem like the right course of action.

I've never used Remote Desktop ever before, actually, now that I think about it, I disabled it because I don't use it. I guess I'm safe? *shrugs*

Same here. Although I run win10, I made it a habit to disable remote desktop support by default since I never used it.

I use it every day on my LAN as I suspect a lot of other users do as well. None of the RT's are exposed to the WWW. It's very easy to manage the computers in the house that way. What I don't understand is why so few people doesnt't change the Remote Desktop port when they set it up. Most. if not all scans are directed at the default port. The same goes for the default ADMIN username on a server. Change it to something else ....

Kinda fed up with those exploits and vulnerabilities Feels like it's wild wild west, between broken Windows updates and more exploits to help along

Anyone who knows how to properly use a firewall should not be too concerned. Changing the default port of Remote Desktop won't solve any problems, since the attack would probably work on any open port that's used for RDS. Firewall, firewall, firewall.

I kind of hope that someone creates a worm that installs the patch after it spreads to 10 other PCs.

How do you do that?

iirc, I did it via an extra tool (windows privacy dashboard here from the forums). I'll check again to be sure.
