Oh great, Windows 10 is finally becoming more useful like Windows 7. Thank you, M$! I no longer have to lurk in registry to disable your messed up auto updates.

Maybe if we give them enough time they will eventually reinvent the wheel and arrive at similar update options like all their previous windows.

Well, I can olny say, it's good that they offer more options. Why they still don't want to / can't offer what part time programmers do for the community, I guess it has to have a business background.

I already had this flexibility. Group Policy allows me to defer them by 365 days. I'm on 1809 untill the follow up of 1903 comes out.

I don`t understand the whine about automatic update. Since MS made possible to set any internet connection as a metered one not a single automatic update troubled my rig.

Yes sure there are workarounds, you can edit registers or go into gpedit to change that, but this should be an easy to reach feature and not something hidden. MS has even explained why they did it like this, as there are plenty of people who install nothing on their PC and then have security or performance issues and this explanation even makes sense. However, that would require MS to have an actual QC of what they release. I absolutely do not care to be a beta tester because their new feature update now has paint 3D, that I don't care about, but has broken something else, I need stable OS and I know I'm not the only one. That's why manual updates are preferred.

My favorite windows 10 update so far was the one that made my brothers wireless card stop working, basically making it so it couldn't connect to the internet to receive updates to fix the update of the update of the update . . . . ∞

I am glad for this news, and we can always hope that Microsoft will continue in the direction of greater flexibility. Thanks Hilbert for posting this.
