Yeap, inflation is impacting on everything at the moment, food, utilities, rent, morgages, fuel, council tax, bills, and with no end in sight. 🙁

At least it is still less than the PS5 with the same hardware, talking harware the serie S have it's SSD jumping from 512M to 1T (like the serie S "carbon" standard).

Oopsie we bought some of our competitors now we have to bump prices a little teehee Like this was always the end goal, everyone understands that right? The goal was to underprice, drive adoption and, more importantly, reliance on game pass as a service, then once new sub growth slows you ratchet up pricing knowing you've locked in your market because these dumb fucks stopped buying games and relied on game pass for most of their needs because it was an impossible deal to pass up. Now they've got a sunk cost, they like playing 5 or 6 game pass games and cancelling the sub means spending 300 dollars buying those games. "This is just a couple bucks, I'll just keep paying, it's fine..."

This^^ All subscription/streaming services start cheap and then increase over time, when they thing they their customers "locked" in. But gamepass still offers terrific value for those who like this type of services.

I see that Seagate has lost the expansion card exclusive deal, with WD now having their own cheaper versions, so at lest some good news, hopefully now seagate has some compitition and we wil see these expansion card prices drop, as the simply 500gig would turn my present SS into the new 1tb model, but just white. 🙂

Dollar not feeling strong?... np mateys price increase. People "buying too much" of your stuff -- price increase People actually not buying non of your stuff -- price increase The good ol' schrodinger economy theory, wheter you buy or not, it always make prices go up. (do not get me started in salary staganation, we do not increase that at all ever).

I really question some of these prices like how does the UAE have a lower USD price than the US the dollar is a dollar they should have already been the same price and the argentine peso price equates to like 5$usd its price discrimination

The good thing about a xbox account is you can buy from places like Turkey or Arg, and redeem them on your own UK account via a simple VPN, so i stacked 3 years of GPU for what worked out at £32 a year, last year, by grabbing Turkey GPU codes and redeeming them.....job done. 🙂

That's what's bizarre to me... it's not the same hardware, just the same architecture with individual optimizations/tweaks; the XBSX IIRC has a staggering 50% more shaders, it should be way better, yet most games perform roughly the same which is criminal.

Never knew there was such a huge shader count difference, so I looked it up: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/playstation-5-gpu.c3480 https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/xbox-series-x-gpu.c3482 PS5: 2304 @ 2233MHz => 10.29 TFLOPS XBSX: 3328 @ 1825MHz => 12.15 TFLOPS The PS5 GPU is clocked much higher, leading to the difference in compute performance shrinking to just 18%.

I was under the impression that's a best case scenario for the PS5 because it has dynamic clocks? It's not the 50% difference I thought it was between shader counts (I must have been thinking 36 CUs vs 54 CUs when it's 52), but even with that in mind and assuming the PS5 holds its max clocks, an 18% difference for this console generation is still really large and should have noticeable performance impact. Yet games often perform better on the PS5 with similar (or better) settings as the XBSX, if DF is to be believed. Some BS is afoot. Sony cheaping out on the GPU then discovering MS's is way stronger is why they cranked up the clocks as high as they could last second, which ended up requiring liquid metal and not being that much cheaper than just not being cheapasses about the GPU to begin with. If Sony had no competition they would have made the PS5 much weaker.

PC gamers "GPU are so expensive maybe i should get a console" Microsoft "raise the xbox prices"
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/246/246088.jpg
Im not a fan of any form of subscription, only Amazon Prime for TV and delivery and Go Daddy for my Domains as they are continually rising in value. YouTube offers me more than enough content and certain films i just buy the UHD as i have a great AV set up. I know people who have Prime, Netflix, Disney+ and Sky, man thats a significant monthly outgoing, buying a PC and gaming is maybe a cheaper option for entertainment in the long run ha ha ha ha

Anyway PS5 and XBox have been hit by the Nintendo's torpedoes... One or 2 sale by week Vs 2 or 3 sale by day.

True but price of PC games and some PC parts, mostly GPUs, have also increased in the past months.

Despite the high prices of modern games and good hardware, gaming is cheap compared to most entertainment forms. Buying good equipment for some sports, like surf, cycling and others is expensive as hell! And most entertainment requires some travelling, adding another expense. Gaming is buying the hardware and games and just enjoy it!

PC games are the same price as the console one's now on release.

Unless the game is on offer, then it's at least 50 or 60 to buy.

I'm not sure raising the clockspeeds on a chip that was fabricated specifically for the PS5 could have been a last-minute decision. The chip was already validated to run at those clockspeeds and this would have been communicated to Sony within the contract for the chip. Sony had to then design and validate the motherboard to deliver the required power to the APU etc... Given this was a smaller chip, they could still clock it up and have it spend the same power or less than the one in the XBSX while having almost the same performance, so they're still safe on the tech spec side of things if one were to compare the two consoles.
