My oh my!
Should we expect then, that the free upgrading will go on "forever and one day" after buying a copy of "Window$", since, before there were clearly designated "version numbers" or specific names added to the basis consisting of the word "Window$"?:infinity:

More likely if they do drop version numbers, the sheer amount of people who still call it Windows 9, by the next release they'll backtrack and return version numbers again
Look how impossible it was to get people to drop "Metro" and start using "Modern"
It would be a stupid move on MS part if they do this, it will just cause ultimate confusion for everyone

W9 would be a pretty cool acronym.

No problem...
...because, it can be a "Win 36x", too. Or (yeah, why not) "Win All year through"... 🙄

B9 has my vote for a name. Then on the bsd front a good name would be cerulean.

Well OSX tends to be referred to by it's code name rather than number. Probably be similar with a sub name and the version number will be internal for the most part.
Not that I care anymore, I just use Windows for Steam client only. It's Mac for everything else.

I really think I'm at that point which many people talk about doing, but rarely actually do- switch to Linux as a main OS and keep Windows 7 for games. Either Debian or Fedora.
Not that Linux is a utopian OS or that Windows is bad. But more from a post Snowden kinda stance.
Are they market targeting 4 year olds? I'll never get marketing logic.

Tech Support: How can I help you today?
Client: My Windows will not load.
Tech Support: Sorry to hear this, first off what version are you running?
Client: Ummm Windows
Tech Support: Yes you are running Windows but what version?
Client: It's just Windows!
You see where this is going.
