pretty sure it's that, had to uninstall it a few months back because it was bugging me to update to the beta, wouldn't surprise me if you left it on then it would auto download w10

This explains why my internet has been so slow today,

I'm glad that I uninstalled this KB3035583 Windows update a few days ago. It was bugging me 'Update to Windows 10' constantly :3eyes:. I was like #!@#!@# that.

I'm wondering if there's any difference on installing this build 10240 now or waiting for the "official" release, seems we can control driver updates now and I'm getting anxious for it now lol

Just noticed this myself, it was stuck at 140mb for what seemed like ages but now up to 6gb.
Nothing on the wife's laptop yet though.

Can one just put the contents of this folder onto a bootable USB stick or DVD and install it from there (if your SSD is too small to hold your old windows and the new and these files, for example)? It looks like it has a boot and an efi/boot folder so perhaps a clean install is also possible with these files.
And is it possible to install now or do we have to wait until official release date?

If it lets you copy from that folder, I've had issues with permissions on $Windows.~BT contents trying that in VM
And so long as the boot.wim is there, and whatever other files they have held back

No issues like that here on 8.1. Don't have this preload folder either. Apart from issues to users with bandwidth caps, I'm not sure how I feel about this. On one hand, Microsoft seems to have learned something about update rollouts with 8.1, and decided to make it easier for casuals to get the upgrade (read, forcing them to get it). On the other hand, why are they so dang eager to get everyone upgraded?

This got me curious. I had pre-ordered Windows 10 anyway, but I was under the impression you would just get a message saying ok you can download it.
Checked for that directory and its def there, and looking at my network utilization its definitely downloading stuff in the background, doesnt really bother me I guess, but I can see some ppl not being happy about choosing when to download something like this.

How much free space will the upgrade need? Only have about 40gig free

Can someone post ISO links so I can do a fresh install on my PC's? I'm not doing upgrades, I'd rather do fresh installs.
