What about removing certification issues for game patches on MS Store games?

hence why EGS is paying(bribing) developers to publish on their platform first....... My suspicion is that steam will lower it eventually too since MS did.
That would be a miracle. Steam is super greedy.

Not only that, but the Steam Launcher needs a major overhaul as well. It's become a dinosaur compared to the others out there.

Def don't need to worry about that vs Windows Store.

Good news for the Devs, and if MS can streamline their W10 store then even better news for those devs selling on it.

Compared to what? EGS. EGS has a long way to go imo. Scrolling is still randomly laggy for no reason (one of the main reason i'm not using it as my main client outside of the games they give). No way to assign categories to your games. No information about controller support and such. No way to review games. Have they implemented achievements yet? XBox app is certainly not better than Steam either. The "hate" on Steam is seriously ridiculous. It's still the best client out there as far as i'm concerned. It's also always the one giving me less headache when i restore a backup of a game from my backup-ed library. It's fine to not like it because of the "bloat" but saying the other clients are better is simply not true. This said Valve should reduce their cut or it will eventually cost them.

They really need to improve the xbox app though. I'm a game pass sub because it is just too good of a deal to pass on but man the app is just brutally simple. I think you would give 3 interns a month and they would do a better job. I know lot of people just want to be able to buy games but i'm sure that like me lot of people are interested in all the other features. I personally like that when i need help i can find a guide most of the time in the Steam community. Workshop is cool too for some games.

^^^Yeap, the xbox apps need some major work as it still requires the W10 store to go through to do simple things like updating games, so i want them to make it all seamless like the console itself, just one click and let the updating begin. lol

I don't see Steam as a launcher , it has much more things inside. Things 99% of the time will not need. I have this odd fantasy where it would be nice to have just launchers, and not the store crap or any other additions. that way you can decide for yourself. browsing the store through a browser is so much more convenient.

Steams controller app is nice for games that have crap support and their VR API is pretty much the gold standard. Other things like remote play and family share are nice too.

Valve in early years literally PAID publishers to boost steam. A lot of people here are too young I guess to remember how Steam was related as evil and bad in early years.

I never heard about it or cared back then I guess. Been on steam since it came out many moons ago.

Steam provides cloud save storage. Controller Emulation Remote play Friend Streaming Workshop Versioning system (for downgrades) Voice chat Customizable Profiles Art/Screenshot hosting Groups/Communities Network interface for server listings Music library And much more. as well few more gimmicky things like badges/cards/tradeables, on a system that caters to the consumer/user and ease of use. Developers that are unwilling to pay to be on a platform that provides all of these and more, choosing to be on inferior services are the greedy ones. Developers that are bribed to exclusively release their product on an inferior service are the greedy ones. You've taken Epics ill founded bait and gone deep sea fishing with it, it costs money to be on a superior service, that money is taken from a higher cut of the profits (and its not even always 30%) Microsoft are double dipping with advert revenue and selling your user data, so theres no justifiable reason they had to take 30%, they also don't do much if any of the above features. I reckon EGS is ripping studio's off with their pathetic capability set.

It's amazing how many people are still: "Epic baaaaaaaaaaaaaad!". Yet they play games using the Unreal Engine. Can't be more pathetic.

Seriously? You can't think of anything more pathetic than that?

what epic is going with there store and trying make PC games Exclusive to there Store only is bad, dont need store exclusivity crap for game on PC. And dont even get my start on how many "store" client launcher there are now. which completely despise atlest with steam where all my pc game are it all in one place. which is convenient to me as opposed to have to deal with how many store client/launchers? which isnt convenient Unreal Engine has nothing to do with the crap EPIC is pulling

There's also the payment options and Valve covering some of the involved fees and I believe the trading cards were cited as a part of what this cut also covers for and then there's the free key generation and being allowed to sell to other platforms though you can't generate a massive number of keys and just sell elsewhere there's a few terms for it but Valve is fairly generous about this system it doesn't have to be 1:1 against Steam sales. Regional pricing is nice as well, shame a lot of publishers modify the suggested price defaults to really mess with a couple of regions but EGS also supports it though then sees it modified a bit afterwards as I think it's applied by default letting people snag a few good deals before it's "corrected" ha ha. Higher sales allowing for a reduction in the cut though I don't know if many but the larger publishers could hit such sales. Proton and all that effort as well, massive work on input support and upcoming overhauls and improvements. 🙂 Think the cut could have been higher too and might even have been before the 30/70 split but it's the industry default now though EGS and Microsoft (3rd parties and only on PC though.) lowering it down is a interesting shift. (I don't think it'd be sustainable though lowering it by that much.)
