This is disappointing though not surprising; I am sure it's the UKs way of deliberately being awkward to make a worldwide statement as to how important the UK is now we are not part of Europe. I was looking forward to those dormant IPs Activision are sitting on getting potentially another chance as there is no chance under the current CoD farm Activision 🙁 Awful summery of why they blocked the deal too! Cloud Gaming o_O 🙄

Will be interesting to see what happens if the EU and FTC both allow this deal..........could be a sticky situation for the CMA to be in.

To be fair they are right. This kind of merger should not be allowed. Soon all the markets will be controlled by 2-3 big companies and there wont be competition anymore. Capitalism implies free market and there can't be free market when all the market are controlled by 2-3 big companies. We are heading straight to a wall by allowing all those merger between big companies. As much as i would like Microsoft to buy Activision cause Activision is **** it's really not a good idea to let that happen. But no worry it will happen anyway cause money talk and MS just have to finance the right people.

is this still going on... The Elder Scroll 6 being locked to windows store is only thing i worried about from recent buy out MS been doing. I dont think the deal should go threw but The whole Redfall dev being told NO sony, upon the buy should be enough reason for it not to happen

Corporate Oligopoly. Better learn that word because it's where we already in most industries. To some degree in energy and certain tech, its understandable due to costs of entry, but oligopolies over food and entertainment have lack justification or benefits. If only other western regulators followed UK lead and could not be bought or bullied. Now if you will excuse me I am going to McDonald's and watching Netflix.

I guess third party representatives against the deal took the CMA to the better strip clubs in Soho to seal this decision...:D

It's a tough one, I was looking forward to seeing Activision on game pass, however along with the purchase of Bethesda, Microsoft would have a pretty tight grip on a lot of IP.

Should have taken CMA reps out for high tea. 😉

They did, on the same time and date as the regulatories decision. Slightly awkward I'd asume, but at least it was P2P!

There are over 2,500 video game companies. There is a "Big Ten" list of gaming companies, but I don't see a major shift towards a monopoly by any one of them. I would be interested to know why the CMA gave this deal a thumbs down. This isn't a hostile takeover and Blizzard sounds more than happy to be bought by Microsoft. If a company is floundering on its own, does it make sense to let it wither on the vine instead of letting another company take it over and save it? Fun fact: 85 percent of Vietnamese play video games.

I didn't know the UK has a "Cloud gaming" industry. Anything short of Sony and formerly Google and Nvidia which none of are located in UK.
