Would be interesting to see how FPS games go with this.

I'm having Gears of War flashbacks, I can see the trainwreck heading their way again...

I feel like mouse + sniper rifle = bad luck for xbone players.

Uniting the locked down PC's *cough* consoles one feature at a time. Would've been nice for a game like GTA V though. The PC version matches up controller and M/K based on preference. If only every cross platform game did this there would be more seamless communities on every title.

This can not be balanced or a good idea for fps games. Many others could work though.

I'm seeing most advantage for pc players with fps games, but I'm still using a Xbox One controller @ my pc for games like GTA V. Sometimes when I'm handling the turret gun in an Insurgent Pickup I use mouse keyboard combination.

Didn't Microsoft try doing this already back at around the beginning of Games for Windows Live? between the PC and 360.

Yes such as Shadowrun, but the problem with was it was a GFWL title whereas with this, it's open to any game on any platform as long as the developer is onboard with it.

This is for games like Rocket League. No FPS console gamer is going to want to go up against PC people. I'm glad Microsoft reversed initial position on this. Now RL needs to support cross platform multiplayer match making so I can play with my console friends.

This is the biggest load of rubbish I've ever read! Microsoft have been blustering a lot of hot air over this supposed cross-platform play for a long time and have delivered very little, if virtually nothing at all. At the end of the day, it's up to the developer to feature cross-platform multiplay in their games and most won't bother at all. A game like Star Wars Battlefront could benefit from this feature since there are much fewer PC players than console players and it takes half an hour to get into a Walker Assault game. If this were opened up to cross-platform play then it would be much easier for PC players to get into a game. But it's never going to happen. Microsoft are treating the news of Rocket League cross-platform play as the biggest thing since sliced bread. Woopdee-freakin-doo!! PC gamers have been playing against PS4 players for ages now. Nothing special! This announcement will become nothing more than another in a long line of hyped up, but largely unfulfilled feature promises made by Microsoft for PC gamers. Given the amount of promises theyve broken they should form their own political party. As far as FPS games go, don't console players have aim assistance to even things up against PC players??

Be interesting to see how aim assist is handled between console and pc, console games tend to have it built into the very game which is why the halo port to pc which didn't alter that code made it nothing but pistol snipers.

I've been playing street fighter V and rocket league with PS4 users perfectly fine thanks. It's laughable that Microsoft are yet to get it right.

Cross-platform parties don't work on Rocket League between PS4 and PC because Sony's servers can't communicate with steam's backend that Psyonix uses on PC. Psyonix would have to design it's own independent party system back-end that may not even be approved by all the systems the game is shipping on. So while Microsoft is slightly behind, Sony hasn't gotten it right either. Thankfully Psyonix is pushing this issue to both Microsoft, Sony and Valve and hopefully all of them will work together to make this work.

Nothing is done because of the goodness of their hearts. In the end of this console cycle the Xbox One won't even have 1/3 of the market, the way things seem to be going. They just want to make people at least consider the Xbox One, since there is a waterfall effect if many people get PS4s. That's also the reason of them pushing Xbox as a service on Windows boxes, and the horrible, closed Windows Store games.
