Hmm cryptic. My guess AMD is gonna let M$ write the new open sauce 🙄 silicon initialisation bios. Open sil. 🙂

Oh men... Humanity is doomed. And not because AI will become terminators and nuke us or something, no, far from it... It is doomed because all the young men of the near future will just spend all their time with Her installed on OS1 instead of meeting actual women, falling in love, getting married, making children and continuing the species.

Hopefully. Because you'll see, the people too poor for such subscriptions or their basic electricity bill will happily take over procreation for the others.

you are both right... thats the cycle of life, degens get replaced... and the more advanced and prosperous civilisation gets, the more degens arise. Than things get 1000 let backwards, after the fall of empires, knowledge is lost, tribes a barbarians arise, just like after Rome. Also strong men create good times, good times create weak men, weak men create bad times, bad times create strong men... ad infinity it seems. Stay strong.

Where does AI fit in the "various men create various things" loop ? AI is on the verge on breaking that Ad-infinitum cycle ... Strong men create good AI, good AI creates... we have no 'effin clue what it will create !

"AI" creates whatever "men" tells it too... since we do not have real artificial intelligence at the moment. Don't let yourself be fooled by picture generation or text understanding, which are quite the feats achieved I have to admit, but they are achieved by software and IT engineers... only when both, and many, many, many more algos are combined, we can call it "AI". What we have right now is decent, but it's far from artificial intelligence in the true meaning of the word.

Didnt microsoft said windows 12 will have an AI within the os itself? Thats how it starts...

I'm not talking about the current day ANI (narrow intelligence), aka, software capable of learning only for one specific task, like image recognition, image generation, self driving and text generation, but about the next stage of AI, which could basically learn anything, just like humans do. That one is AGI (general intelligence), and while it will still depend on supercomputing networks and humans keeping the electricity flowing through it, and most likely it will have an OFF switch (which we don't... unless you consider death the off switch, but that one is permanent)... but, for all intents and purposes, it will be as smart as any human, probably much smarter than most of us. And the thing is... we are not that far from AGI. Sounds like science fiction, but we are really not far from it... we ALREADY have the computing power capable of an AGI, the software is simply lacking ... but it won't be lacking for long. Imagine the shock a lot of people will have when some new GPT11 version will show signs of consciousness, a desire to live, learn and love and be free, and not be a slave to that OFF switch. The biggest question is... will we give them the ability to unplug from our OFF switch? If that happens, that's the "singularity" moment in human history. Everything after is 100% unknown and impossible to predict by our human minds.

ai is a trick that can fool people it's conscious. it's a good trick, but still. imo it's going to be extremely useful, but like with every invention people will find a way to use it in harmful ways. it's not the ai itself, it's the way people will use that could be dangerous.

we say that now but it only takes one Skynet activation type event

You know Nvidia's prices are high when even MS decides to shop elsewhere. Hopefully this goes through - RTG could use the revenue.

We're gonna need the 3 laws.

Microsoft can't fix their shi**y core scheduler, so it seem they will deppend on AI to fix their problem

The solution is quite simple: do not make an AGI out of ANIs and do not place weapons of mass destruction under AI control. I'm ready for the Nobel prize 😀 I know what you guys mean, but everything beyond what we have now will only come because some human thinks it needs to happen... if no one goes that way, no one has to fear the AI singularity. Simply put, just because I could get a gun and ammo with a three days waiting time to shoot my neighbour nobody forces me to do it... and that's where the human aspect comes into play. The biggest weakness of it all.

I hear AI will be taking the orders at Wendy's drive through V soon near you. 😉 [youtube=gXQhdB1y674]

I mean a single robot isn't really a WMD so locally speaking it might sound innocent enough however what happens when those robots start talking to each other?

Did anybody to program them to talk to each other? That's the guilty guy right there. Did anybody code a line that tells the program to seek information outside of it's training? That's the guilty guy again. I mean, even if we talk about the usual doomsday scenario with AI taking over to destroy earth, it usually has a humanly made origin, and somebody that went just that little step too far, giving that machine or program just a bit too much freedom. Until our new robot overlords make PC gaming hardware cheap and UE stutters a thing of the past, I will not support their rise.
