750GB for €200 WOW! I remember buying a 200GB for over €600 a few years ago - getting economical enough to start getting rid of spinning platters for smaller drives now in machine forever (still need the big eco-green ones for large scale storage).

Nah, I'm pretty sure all 3D Xpoint stuff is being sold under the "Optane" brand name. It also appears to use a DDR4 slot -- still seems to be a mystery at what it's being used for. Some articles say graphics, other articles say its a memory replacement, other articles say it will be used in VR, other articles say all of the above. Micron was working on 3D TLC separately to XPoint though, which is what this seems to be.

well, Optane, from what I have read is not only an upcoming storage item (SSD, whether SATA or PCI-E) but its also going to be a DIMM.. these will be two entirely separate products. I'm not sure why anyone would go with this Micron offering when Optane, from early demos, have shown its superiority not only with speeds, but also with much larger capacities. Now, likely it will cost a mint, but for people who want a true and significant upgrade from today's 500/500 SSDs, this would be it.

This is not the 3dXPoint memory that you are referencing to. Stackable 3D NAND is not new as Samsung drives already have it but it is being introduced into the Crucial Drives through Micron's development sites. The 3DXPoint is probably about 6-12 months from being fully available as an open market product as a lot of it is still in testing. Be sure that when it comes out though, we will be seeing major improvements in memory storage and DIMM relationships as well as the overall fluidity of our computers ability to read, write and render at the same time!
