Not my genre of games usually, but I most say it looks very intriguing.

Must say it does look pretty damn good. Shame the publishers are absolute wankers though and are ruining the dev's lives.

I remember ordering games on tape threw the mail in the early 80's and now were at the point where bickering and baby tantrums over the distributor is what you hang emotions on and not the quality of the game.

I'm not the biggest Metro fan (only really played the Redux versions) but I've liked what I've seen so far and I'm looking forward to the next installment. I don't pre-order games anymore (been burned too many times) but I hope to pick it up soon after release.

I am really hoping to still get steam preorder key As I did manage order one of last steam preorders available on 3rd party shops before it was replaced with EPIC version: Your Order Contains the Following Items: 1 x Metro Exodus CD Key For Steam If they sent me Epic key, then I will be either asking for refund or use cracked version so I don't need install another Epic Crapstore launcher.

The younger generations don't realize how good they have it. The internet allows an opinion to become a widespread shared state of mind nearly instantly as everyone jumps on the entitlement wagon. Boycotting a game because of a launcher is next-level ridiculous. It takes an email address and a password to create an account plus 10 seconds to download the launcher. Things could be so much worse...

Except no one cares about having to use a second launcher - they care specifically about Epic buying exclusive rights to games, being partially owned by Tencent, the lack of multiple features that they find useful and opt-in reviews. You ever think that maybe the reason why younger generations have it so good is because someone from an older generation died on a hill defending one of those "wagons"? You make it sound like consumer protections is a post-millennial thing. I personally don't give a shit about the Epic launcher, I welcome the competition - but if you're going to pose an argument against those boycotting, at least know what their position is.

I'm not talking about any of that, and no where in my post did I mention any of those things. I'm also not posing an argument. There's plenty of people whining just because they have to use a separate launcher and how it impacts their convenience. I can tell those other points are important to you, but I'm not speaking to them. Reading comprehension... Steam is a great platform with plenty of options, but to me it is ultimately a way to download a game so that I can play it. Consumer protections, he says! You sound entitled to me. Now type me 8 pages in your reply. Go!

Sorry I didn't realize you were using the thread to soapbox a random complaint and not the topic that most people in the thread including the person you quoted were alluding to.

Wasn't soap-boxing anything. Just replied to a comment about how things have changed over the years. It wasn't even directed at you or anyone else in particular other than the OP. Not every comment is an attack on your ideology, but you'd be hard pressed to realize that given your rage-laden comment history. I accept your apology. Try not to get so riled up over things...

This looks good , hope my phone can run this! ;-) Pretty cool that you can play as Putin in this game. Sadly I'm gonna pass since I like using STEAM and GOG.

Other than being another launcher, is there any reason for the hate towards this being exclusive to Epic? All these different launchers are admittedly annoying, I've got 5 now between Steam, GOG, Battle.Net, Origin, and Uplay. At the same time Steam takes a hefty 30% of sales, from some quick googling Epic only takes 12% and waives the 5% UE4 royalty. Don't get me wrong, I like Steam and having most of my games in one place is great, but the cut they take seems huge for what the platform offers (beyond a huge user base). If the Epic launcher is lightweight and doesn't get in my way too much it's not a big deal for me, plus the game looks good.

Steam's system is tiered with larger revenue games taking less than 30% (25% 10-50M, 20% 50M+). Steam offers a number of features over Epic's launcher including Cloud Saves, a DRM system (arguably preventing the dev from requiring their own), user review system that's required and not opt-in by the developer and a support forum for the games. A lot of people also seem to take issue with Epic being partially owned by Tencent, a Chinese conglomerate, although I personally don't see the issue with this. Most people's complaint seems to be that Epic is buying exclusives instead of just offering a better platform and letting users decide which to buy the game on. I think the game looks good and I plan on buying it through the Epic store fwiw.

I have a feeling this is going to be Epic

Ok, thanks for the info. I didn't realize Steam took less the more you sell. From what I can gather the features Epic is missing are the things I don't use anyway. I'm torn on the DRM side of things. Ideally I want zero DRM (thanks GOG), but I've never run into any issues with Steam's DRM. Epic don't have DRM built in, so I guess games could ship DRM free, but they also could use DRM that's more invasive or dysfunctional than what Steam would have. For now the whole exclusive thing doesn't bother me too much, it's generally against my principles but I don't know that it's a deal breaker, maybe I'll regret that down the line. As long as the launcher is lightweight and I like the game, I'm not going to sweat it. I do respect people for sticking to their guns when they don't like something though, more power to those who don't like what Epic is doing. For my mileage though, the transgressions seem mild.
