The younger generations don't realize how good they have it. The internet allows an opinion to become a widespread shared state of mind nearly instantly as everyone jumps on the entitlement wagon. Boycotting a game because of a launcher is next-level ridiculous. It takes an email address and a password to create an account plus 10 seconds to download the launcher. Things could be so much worse...

Except no one cares about having to use a second launcher - they care specifically about Epic buying exclusive rights to games, being partially owned by Tencent, the lack of multiple features that they find useful and opt-in reviews. You ever think that maybe the reason why younger generations have it so good is because someone from an older generation died on a hill defending one of those "wagons"? You make it sound like consumer protections is a post-millennial thing. I personally don't give a crap about the Epic launcher, I welcome the competition - but if you're going to pose an argument against those boycotting, at least know what their position is.

I'm not talking about any of that, and no where in my post did I mention any of those things. I'm also not posing an argument. There's plenty of people whining just because they have to use a separate launcher and how it impacts their convenience. I can tell those other points are important to you, but I'm not speaking to them. Reading comprehension... Steam is a great platform with plenty of options, but to me it is ultimately a way to download a game so that I can play it. Consumer protections, he says! You sound entitled to me. Other than being another launcher, is there any reason for the hate towards this being exclusive to Epic? All these different launchers are admittedly annoying, I've got 5 now between Steam, GOG, Battle.Net, Origin, and Uplay. At the same time Steam takes a hefty 30% of sales, from some quick googling Epic only takes 12% and waives the 5% UE4 royalty. Don't get me wrong, I like Steam and having most of my games in one place is great, but the cut they take seems huge for what the platform offers (beyond a huge user base). If the Epic launcher is lightweight and doesn't get in my way too much it's not a big deal for me, plus the game looks good.

Steam's system is tiered with larger revenue games taking less than 30% (25% 10-50M, 20% 50M+). Steam offers a number of features over Epic's launcher including Cloud Saves, a DRM system (arguably preventing the dev from requiring their own), user review system that's required and not opt-in by the developer and a support forum for the games. A lot of people also seem to take issue with Epic being partially owned by Tencent, a Chinese conglomerate, although I personally don't see the issue with this. Most people's complaint seems to be that Epic is buying exclusives instead of just offering a better platform and letting users decide which to buy the game on. I think the game looks good and I plan on buying it through the Epic store fwiw.
